Senior Data Centre Manager

MaxSys is seeking a Senior Data Centre Manager for our client Quebec location.
The Data Centre Manager is responsible for all aspects of raised floor operations and local data centre support for regional data centers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of raised floor operations
  • Manage, track and document capacity such as cabinet/space allocations, UPS loads, customer VA tracking and cooling plants. Report on site capacities on a monthly basis.
  • Maintain detailed site specification documentation as As-built drawings, single line drawings and pre-sales specification sheets
  • Plan physical environment installs including cage designs, cabinet assignments, power provisioning etc
  • Review and approve all facilities maintenance tasks/MOPS as part of change management system independently or in co-operation with local technical teams or other service providers
  • Oversee and monitor all facilities record keeping
  • Coordinate with multiple vendors for works such as data cabling, cage builds, cabinet purchases etc
  • Participate in regular facilities audits for client and customers
  • Through data centre analyst group, coordinate activities such shipping and receiving
  • Oversee physical security operations such as turnstiles, biometrics and operations in cooperation with Security team
  • Act as client's door owner to promptly review all requests for access and granting or denying as appropriate and to complete quarterly audits per corporate policy
  • Maintain accurate site documentation such as floor and cabinet layouts
  • Adhere to industry and best practices particularly in areas of power, cooling, labeling, data cabling etc
  • Participate in pre-sales tours for prospective customers
  • Manage installs against aggressive schedules
  • Adhere to national Bell data centre standards and participate in developing new standards as the need arises
  • Maintain high cleanliness standards for data rooms
  • Participate in facilities post incident reviews as required
  • Liaison with multiple vendors and service providers
  • Hold regular datacenter site meetings with core team and prepare minutes
  • Participate in Deal Review calls with broader team
  • Interface other service providers
  • Participate in and lead local project initiatives
  • Comply with clients' energy savings and waste management directives
  • Technical leadership for data centre manager team and groups

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in managing mission critical facilities
  • Experience in supervising small teams
  • Experience with electrical and mechanical subsystems such as PDUs, UPS, generators, chillers, CRAC units etc
  • Understanding of IT systems including but not limited to servers, storage, network systems, backup devices, fibre and copper structured cabling
  • Familiarity with Uptime Institute and GreenGrid principles
  • Experience in large, complex construction projects
  • Ability to read and to comprehend single line diagrams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort in working in a fast paced 24x7 environment

Language skill:
This position is French imperative. A working knowledge of English is strongly preferred.
