Site Supervisor (Current Employee) – Milton, ON – 14 January 2018
Requires extensive knowledge of the building process for residential homes from excavation to final occupancy inspection.
very fast paced environment that demands fine tuned organization, planning and the ability to change direction at any moment.
Its not just one house you're building, it could be 40-50 at the same time. All at different stages of construction which means you must be able to communicate to a large variety of trades every single day and also be able to schedule the trades to follow.
benefits, wage, job security, community of employees
long hours, cold weather, very stressful and demanding
Handyman (Former Employee) – Oakville, ON – 17 December 2017
Some management should not be management, lack human compassion, and empathy They are only concerned with budgets and money, and not the employee's They are strict with production schedule though, which does benefit the handyman somewhat
Everyone is kind and helpful/lack of leadership with managers
Warrant Administrator (Former Employee) – Ottawa, ON – 30 September 2017
I enjoyed meeting different trades. I gathered a lot of information on the building of a house. Management are bullies, and do not take responsibilities for any errors. You are yelled and screamed at, called names, your work gets sabotaged. Managers will do anything to keep their jobs.
Contract Manager (Former Employee) – Calgary, AB – 17 September 2017
This was a challenging role but exciting, constantly looking for cost saving measures in both design and materials. Working with suppliers and framers to improve design and efficient builds. Management was hands off giving your room to grow, but there in the back ground for assistance if required. Managing people is the hardest part of the position looking for the win win solutions. Most enjoyable was seeing progress in the reduction of costs.
Sales Consultant (Former Employee) – Ottawa, ON – 8 March 2017
I was immediately judged with respect to my age. This is a very young group of people that most would consider the "cool kids". People in this company act like they are better than everyone else. Strong sense of entitlement with all staff. Very competitive.
Customer Care Coordinator (Former Employee) – Milton, ON – 13 February 2017
I very much enjoyed my time at Mattamy and it saddens me that I have to leave! The staff truly are like family and the working environment is exceptional. They always help you grow in your role and get to where you want to be.
Head Chef (Former Employee) – Oakville, ON – 5 January 2017
Great place to work, very friendly staff. Enjoyed going to work every day. weekends and all holidays off. Free lunch provided to employees every day. great benefits and salary. lots of holidays. I enjoyed working there,
Backhoe Operator (Current Employee) – Kitchener, ON – 28 November 2016
the company itself is good. the supervisors ruin it all. they set you up to fail no matter what. you can never get a answer for an urgent problem from them. you do as they say and its never good enough. they end any employee moral. they say they "know the job" meanwhile they sit in their office all day or drive around and do nothing all day.. and clearly forgot what its like on the front lines. no "builder" cares about anything or anyone but themselves or the garbage houses they close. no one takes pride in their work, mainly the upper management. they want to keep people who lack intelligence for the position.
theres bullc**p to everyjob, just too much for nothing at this place.
work all year round. benifits are ok. but theres better out there.
Learning on a daily basis with new challanges daily.
Construction Coop Student (Current Employee) – Aurora, ON – 16 May 2016
Allowed for a better understanding of construction process for production home developments. Being a Coop Student allowed for an excellent opportunity to enter a large development company and understand their operating procedures.
Warranty Administrator (Current Employee) – Oakville, ON – 8 March 2016
The company was filled with team players very flexible with their employees. there was a high volume of inquires via phone and emails. The hardest part of the job is under standing the diverse language.
Estimator (Former Employee) – Toronto, ON – 11 September 2015
This was a great company at one point. You felt you made a difference and your team was like family. The company was quick to reward loyalty and build its employees with new skills. It created loyalty. It was the kind of loyalty that drove you to give your all and produce as much value as you could.
Administrative Assistant (warranty) Temporary (Former Employee) – Toronto, ON – 6 August 2015
Working at Mattamy homes was quite an experience. It was a fun place to work. I learnt a great deal of patience and tolerance working there. It was a very demanding job but fulfilling at the same time. It was also very fast paced. My coworkers were very funny and nice. My only concern working at the trailers was that it was always dusty and dirty due to it being a job site. Being an extreme neat freak, i could not stay for long. I had to find something more suitable for me. No regrets working there.
