TITLE: Public Address (P.A.) Announcer

REPORTS TO: Basketball, Hockey and Volleyball Team Lead

# OF POSITIONS: 3

STATUS: Part-time, Hourly

WAGE: $11.00/hr

ENTITY: Global Spectrum Facility Management, Mattamy Athletic Center

SUMMARY:
The P.A. Announcer is the voice that represents Ontario University Athletics (OUA) and other sports events hosted at the Mattamy Athletics Center from August 2013 to March 2014. The P.A. Announcer is responsible for in-game announcements for OUA conference and playoff games, exhibition games, 3-day tournaments and non-Ryerson events. Sports include basketball, hockey and volleyball, and other sporting events in the building. The employee usually works minimum 15 hours a week, primarily during the weekend and some weekdays.

QUALIFICATIONS:
 Must be able to work in a fast paced environment
 Ontario Work Study eligible is preferred
 Knowledge of basketball (FIBA), hockey (CHA) and volleyball (FIVA) is a key asset
 Must be able to work in a team environment
 Must be able to work weekends, some weekdays and December break
 Must be punctual, organized and have the ability to multi-task
 Bilingual (English/French) is a key asset

JOB FUNCTIONS
1- Work in teams to set up and tear down game day venues.
2- Monthly schedules would be provided in advance for staff and require confirmation within 48 hours. Staff are required to work at least three (3) weekends per month at various Ryerson Rams games. Staff may work games that overlap (e.g. Hockey from 11 am to 5 pm and Basketball from 5:30 pm to 10:00 pm)
3- Game Day dress code is black pants. Polo will be provided at $15 each. Jeans, shorts, caps/hats and open toe shoes are not permitted
4- Attend paid training and development sessions
5- Arrive at event venue before scheduled work time to give enough time to store belongings and prepare work station
6- Perform pre-game tasks (i.e. set up work station)
7- Announce game play actions (e.g. points/goals, substitutions, fouls/penalties) and commercials during intermissions, halftime and time outs
8- Work closely with co-workers in game operations and reporting game stats and information as per Canadian Interuniversity Sports (CIS) regulations
9- Complete post-game tasks including station cleanup
10- Perform other duties as assigned
