The Catering Sales Manager is responsible for prospecting, developing, and maintaining client accounts to maximize sales revenues for the hotel by selling event space, guest rooms and catering services for group conferences, meetings and social events. The Catering Sales Manager liaises with multiple departments to meet and exceed the expectations of our clients, develops and implements catering menus. The Catering Sales Manager is actively involved in the hotel leadership team and works closely with the Food and Beverage Manager in the development of the departmental annual budget.
Ensure the highest level of guest service by consistently exceeding guests’ expectations.
Maintain a high level of professionalism in all aspects of job performance.
Responsible for creating, developing and selling event space and guest rooms for group meetings and social events.
Secure new business through prospecting, networking and client meetings.
Create and implement procedures to maintain and enhance the catering sales process.
Prepare proposals, blocking and booking of space, processing of contracts, and follow up efforts for all business.
Liaise with Food & Beverage, AV companies and vendors.
Involvement in development of new creative catering menus.
Creation and distribution of Banquet Event Orders.
Input information into Hotel PMS/S&C while adhering to Westcorp Hotels Standard Operating Procedures.
Utilize Sales and Catering Dashboard to assist with Opera Activity and Task management.
Work with the Sales Department to identify clients needing guest rooms and meeting space.
Actively participate in industry and hotel training programs.
Actively participate in the annual budgeting process.
Actively seek opportunities to improve systems and procedures.
Attend trade shows and promotional events within and outside of the hotel as needed.
Facilitate weekly Catering meetings.
Sell hotel products and services through various communication methods such as phone calls, email, proposals, site tours, walk-in tours and networking events.
Work with Sales and Catering team and Revenue Manager to maximize revenues and practice good yield management strategies.
Review and verify all charges on all guest invoices for accuracy and make any required changes before sending out to client.
Following up on all events by sending out appropriate invoices and ‘Thank You’ letters.
Other duties as assigned by General Manager.
Minimum 2 years' previous experience in a Catering Sales role.
Previous hotel experience, specifically Banquets, Catering or Sales an asset.
University degree or College diploma in Hotel Management an asset.
Knowledge of computerized hotel software systems required with emphasis in Opera an asset.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Strong guest service orientation and training skills background required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
Highly organized, results-oriented with the ability to be flexible and work well under pressure.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Possess sensational customer service philosophy.
Highly organized, results oriented and the ability to work independently or in a multi-functional team environment.
