The position must be filled by mid-May. You would work at the office headquarters, located 5 minutes away from Pearson Airport.

Responsibilities:
Administer group payroll and benefits. Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports. Manage work flow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely. Perform daily payroll department operations. Understand proper taxation of employer paid benefits. Process correct garnishment calculations and compliance. Execute time sheets and attendance processing and interface with payroll. Perform compliance for unclaimed property payroll checks. Process manual checks as needed.

Answer benefit related questions for employees
Processing of all management incentive bonuses, raises, etc.

Manage regular preparation of relevant management reports, including weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.)

Ensure systems are set-up and updated to reflect our current employee base, including wages, benefits, sick and vacation time in line with contracts (union and non-union)

Ensure the processing of new hires, temporary workers, transfers, promotions and terminations is accurate and timely

Prepare Remittance for Payroll deduction – EHT, HST, WSIB, Non-residence tax. Complete Year End Government Taxation Tasks, as required

Prepare all HST tax filing. Timely review and sign off on all required payroll and province tax reconciliations. Ensures compliance with applicable federal, province and local regulatory reporting requirements and guidelines; ensures reports are accurate and disbursed in a timely manner

Handle limited payable function for one property. This includes regular invoices and construction payments.

Perform Bank Reconciliation for a couple of properties

Maintain an accurate filing system

Work with property managers to ensure compliance with pay, policies, procedures and labor regulations

Encourage and implement continuous improvement measures within Payroll

Preform additional duties as needed

Requirements:

Detail oriented and analytic
Use discretion with confidential material
Positive, team worker
Minimum of 5 years experience in a payroll administration position
Experience in hospitality an asset
Experience with Accpac and Paychex is an asset
Complete knowledge of benefits administration and processing
Diploma or degree in accounting or related field preferred
