Reporting to the Regional Manager, the Maintenance Worker is responsible for all maintenance related duties within their assigned location(s) within a residential multi-family setting.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Must be involved in maintenance work emergencies to residential units; be available for on- call on a rotating schedule to deal with problems that occur after hours and/or weekends
- Manage tenant requests including proper follow up to ensure satisfaction and completion
- Complete maintenance checklist for unoccupied suites
- Responsible for minor plumbing and electrical repairs and maintenance
- Effectively troubleshoot minor appliance repairs
- Working knowledge of building systems
- Required to perform preventive maintenance essential to extending lifecycle of equipment and cost reduction
- Adherence to building codes and specifications
- Above average problem solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
- Estimate labour and material costs, as well as maintain inventory required
Qualifications and Requirements
- Must have own tools
- Basic plumbing and electrical skills
- Basic carpentry and handyman skills including drywall, tiling, windows an asset
- Possess post-secondary education in a related field and/or equivalent work experience
- Prior maintenance experience in a residential multi-family environment is an asset
- Flexible to work normal work hours 8.00 am to 5.00 pm, when on-call 1.00 pm to 9.00 pm and any after-hours emergencies
- Must possess a valid Alberta driver’s license and have a reliable vehicle
- Must successfully complete a security clearance
- You possess a keen ability to recognize problems, and create an effective course of action to solve the issue
- You have excellent customer service and relationship building skills
- You are self-directed with the ability to effectively manage your time and resources to ensure deadlines are met
- You have the ability to work with minimal supervision
- You display a professional and positive company image
