Reporting to the Chapter Manager, the Events & Volunteer Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for the organization, coordination, and execution of event logistics for the annual fundraising events as well as supporting all additional fundraising events with the Lethbridge & District Chapter. The successful incumbent will also be responsible for the coordination of event volunteers.

The successful incumbent will be required to complete a driver’s abstract as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates all logistical aspects of the MS Walk, the MS Carnation Campaign and the Hit-a-Ball for MS Campaign
  • Leads all administrative aspects of the MS Walk, the MS Carnation Campaign and the Hit-a-Ball for MS Campaign for the Lethbridge and District Chapter, including tracking and inputting participant registrations and generating reports
  • Provides support to participants with online registration and online fundraising
  • Supports teams by supplying fundraising tools, materials, signage, etc. and attending team fundraising activities when appropriate
  • Supports with preparation of event sponsorship packages and solicitation of sponsors
  • Helps organize event promotional events
  • Coordinates and maintains fundraising equipment
  • Develops and updates event operations plans and equipment lists
  • Promotes volunteer opportunities
  • Recruits, places, trains, supervises, recognizes and retains event volunteers
  • Updates volunteer instructions, position descriptions and training materials
  • Provides event information to relevant external groups: neighborhood residents, community groups, police, municipalities and emergency response
  • Communicates and builds relationships with community organizations, MS Society staff across the province/country, donors, volunteers, sponsors and suppliers
  • Assists the Chapter Manager with planning and execution of Chapter’s fundraising events beyond the Walk , Carnation Campaign and Hit-a-Ball Campaign
  • Maintains the Chapter event website
  • Manages the Chapter social media accounts

Qualifications:

  • University Degree or Community College Diploma in related field, with 1 – 3 years’ experience in the coordination of fundraising events within a not-for-profit environment, or the equivalent and experience
  • A valid Class 5 driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle are mandatory
  • Proven ability to coordinate, organize, initiate and complete events in a timely basis
  • Demonstrated experience in customer relationship management is required
  • Proven ability to manage and work successfully with volunteers
  • Strong communication skills, both written, verbal and presentation
  • Strong customer service orientation and relationship building skills
  • Ability to work within a dynamic team
  • Able to work in a fast paced, high pressure, professional environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Ability to be flexible and respond to a diverse work load
  • Good organizational ability; able to attend to detail and able to prioritize effectively
  • Ability to solve problems and practice good decision-making
  • Strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • Comfortable interacting with individuals with disabilities
  • Strong leadership and team building skills
  • Self-motivated, including an ability to develop goals and objectives as well as work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to represent the MS Society in an appropriate manner
  • Determination, patience and perseverance in conducting fundraising projects
  • Knowledge of multiple sclerosis and related issues affecting persons affected with multiple sclerosis would be an asset
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency using MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) and Internet and fundraising databases

Additional Information:

  • Position is located in Lethbridge with Lethbridge District boundary travel
  • Occasional evening and weekend work will be required
