Position Summary

The Financial Analyst is responsible for all aspects of financial reporting, operational analysis, tax compliance, budgeting and forecasting, and general accounting activities for Matrix Well Servicing (“Matrix”). This position works closely with the other members of the finance group, operations and marketing. He/she demonstrates a proactive approach and initiative when handling reporting and analytical activities to ensure that all tasks are handled efficiently, professionally and in a timely manner.

The Financial Analyst is energetic, polished, professional, and independent, with excellent interpersonal skills. This person must be highly organized, with excellent time management skills and strong attention to detail.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain daily and monthly bank reconciliations
  • Perform all non-AR and non-AP banking transactions, such as account transfers
  • Perform accounting and reconciliation of all inter-company transactions between Matrix and its parent and affiliated companies
  • Analyze various balance sheet and income statement accounts for month-end and quarter-end financial reporting process
  • Participate in various operational analyses, such as monthly/annual rig direct operating contribution margin, return on investments, etc.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and analytical schedules
  • Maintain the company’s accruals and prepaids
  • Prepare weekly cash forecasts
  • Compile weekly revenue and EBITDA reports
  • Assist with annual insurance and registration renewal
  • Participate in the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes
  • Liaise with external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits
  • Provide backup for individuals in the finance group
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Completion of a recognized accounting certificate, diploma, or degree
  • Enrollment in program CMA or CGA program
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in the oilfield services industry and familiarity with IFRS an asset
  • Solid MS Office skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics GP and FRx not required, but would be considered an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, particularly when dealing with operational and marketing personnel
  • Strong time management skills, multitasking skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision
