Looking for a full-time (8:30 A.M. - 4:30 P.M., Monday - Friday) paralegal/secretary position in a renovated and up to date corporate/commercial and real estate office in west Edmonton. I work for a busy sole practitioner (sharing office/building with another lawyer and secretary who are great to work along side) who operates extremely efficiently while still maintaining a fairly laid back atmosphere. I have been working for this lawyer (who is now also a friend) for approximately 28 years and as I will be looking towards retirement in the near future I am helping him find a suitable person to fill my position. I will work with and train the right candidate for the next “x” number of months/years so that the transition will hopefully be seamless when I do retire.

Your responsibilities will include:

. Diary management, including scheduling appointments
. Telephone - filtering incoming calls and dealing with enquiries and requests
. Draft and finalize correspondence and legal documentation (basically restricted to corporate/commercial and real estate matters)
. Billing and disbursement tracking
. Ability to manage multiple files that require interaction with a variety of people and types of information
. Experience with corporate/commercial and real estate matters/files is a must
. Attention to detail and accuracy is essential
. Ability to work effectively with multiple time deadlines
. Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and analyze information skillfully with minimal supervision
. Ability to express facts and ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
. Has a good knowledge of the principles, methods and materials in corporate/commercial and real estate matters
. Takes independent actions and calculated risks but will ask for and offer help to others when needed
. File management - ensure filing is kept up to date
. Liaising with clients and being able to deal with inquiries and requests
. General administrative duties, including photocopying, mail, faxing/e-mailing

The ideal candidate will have solid corporate/commercial and real estate experience and will be able to hit the ground running.
