Position: Loft Coordinator
Reports to: Assistant Store Manager
Location: Burloak

Job Overview
This position contributes to the Genuine Merchant Strategy by ensuring the efficient and effective coordination and execution of the Loft, demo programs and customer events, as well as the development of customized programs for their specific store and local market as required. This position is responsible for ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures and all other company procedures including Food Safety and Health and Safety.


  • Responsible for the coordination of the Loft events, demo programs and store events, (including cooking classes, private cooking classes, room rental for community, corporate events and children’s birthday parties).
  • Respond to customer queries and coordinate private classes, business meetings and community requests
  • Responsible for Loft event set-up for all events booked in the loft
  • Coordination of additional team member support for events
  • Responsible for the coordination of all in-store demo programs scheduled by the marketing department
  • Responsible for the coordination of chain-wide events such as magazine-related events
  • Responsible for the scheduling of in-store Demonstrators

Assist with the preparation for cooking classes by:

  • Ensuring all food preparation ingredients and supplies are obtained in time for the events
  • Assisting the Chef with food preparation as required in readiness for event
  • Ensuring room clean up at the end of the event

Administration & Reporting
Support the Marketing department with the following as it relates to booking classes, renting out the meeting space for the Loft:

  • Prepare Loft rental proposals for potential customers that meet their needs
  • Take food and beverage orders for business meetings
  • Follow up on customer sign ups and report event registration numbers on “My Longos” and communicate status of classes to Marketing
  • Forward completed evaluations to Marketing after event
  • Maintain database of customers on “My Longos” from event evaluations
  • Manage calendar for the Loft at store and work closely with Store Operations to optimize its use
  • Support the Assistant Store Manager in implementing of all Loft and Demo event initiatives

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

  • Post-secondary education with a minimum of 1 year experience in event planning
  • Strong knowledge of retail
  • Appropriate knowledge of maintenance and care of equipment, materials and supplies
  • Knowledge of WHMIS, Food Safety and Health & Safety practices
  • Understanding of and experience working with both adults and children
  • Understand marketing techniques; consumers behaviours
  • Ability to coach and develop others
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills;
  • Strong initiative ability, excellent work ethic and a sense of urgency
  • Detail oriented with good follow up skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new situations, as well as new and changing processes, programs and services
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Proficient computer software skills including Word, Power Point, Excel
