With a little guidance, the whole workplace would be a better environment
Merchandising (Former Employee) – Terrace BC – 17 October 2013
As an associate, and now just as a customer, I try to avoid the store as much as possible. Once in a while I will go in to look for something that I cannot find elsewhere, but it is always the same attitude and uncomfortable feeling every time. I know I am not the only one that feels that way. But with a little pep talk, associates might be able to put a smile on their face and make it a fun place to shop
If you are not a friend of the manager or assistant manager, they will try their hardest to get you to quit.
Warehouse/Furniture Supervisor (Former Employee) – Calgary, AB – 20 April 2017
This store closed down from Canada. It was a great place to work at, made some really good friends. As a furniture supervisor, I would have to work do warehouse work, sell furniture, and be cashier at same time. There was a lot of multitasking involved, processing incoming merchandise, and reporting to management for any damages or any other issues.
ASSISTANT MANAGER (Former Employee) – St. Stephen, NB – 27 March 2017
A typical day at work for me was a mixture of many things including:
-Sales and Cash register operation -Merchandising products to shelves, pricing and tagging items -Warehouse work, shipping and receiving -Opening and closing of store including paperwork, cash balancing and nightly bank deposits.
I learned many things as mentioned in the above list. Management was kind, polite, helpful, considerate, and approachable. The workplace culture was the best I have ever run into having an excellent staff and management team. The hardest part of the job was when we first were hired we comepletely assembled the entire store from the ground up. The most enjoyable part was working at Liquidation World.
Learned many new things and was quickly promoted as well as a great store discount.
No benefits issued and was fairly low paying even as being part of management team
Cashier (Former Employee) – Glenmore, NS – 9 March 2017
The staff provided me with a very close and personal relationship and we grew together and helped eachother out everyway we could. management was excellent and set an amazing example for me and how I would conduct myself in later careers. during my time there, the people I worked with became much more then co workers and mean quite a bit to me. would recommend for anyone looking for a great team mentality sales approach and to develop selling and interpersonal skills.
Head Cashier (Former Employee) – Calgary, AB – 5 January 2017

Shelf Stocker-Department manager (Former Employee) – Wainwright, AB – 20 September 2016
In a days work some management didn't like you and had some-one to fill your spot overall the company is a very good company to work with, customers all ways come back just to say hi and do there shopping and the kids always liked you because when you treat them like a adult and helped them they thanked you with a smile thinking they have the same rights as mom-dad did in the store and asked fore help.
Summer bike checks to make shure there bike was safe to ride, Safty team member, welcomming customers
Floor manager (Former Employee) – Camrose, AB – 29 February 2016
I get of school and go straight to work. I put merchandise out on the floor and set up furniture. Sometimes I work to fast they don't know what job to give me next. I have learned a lot making furniture talking to the costumers. The management was great. I got along with all the co-workers I friended all of them. The hardest part when my Boss gave me a job I could not do by myself could not ask for help because all the other workers had day off. Going there and seeing all my friends and to be truthful getting paid every two weeks.
Contract assembler (Former Employee) – London Ontario – 27 July 2015
I was lucky enough to get into a position they considered a contract by the end. I was able to set my own hours and based it on the workload so if I was not working, I was not there. They showed an interest in safety, which was nice and I would likely still be there despite the pay not being great if they had not closed and moved everything under the Big Lots banner, back to the USA.
Cashier/Sales Associate (Former Employee) – St. Paul, AB – 21 July 2015
A day at work we would plan out the day together. we would al do what were told from the manager usually we would be getting things orginized and put together. my co workers were good i liked them. the hardest part was lifting heavey things for a good amount of time hauling them to a different spot... the enjoyable part of the job was seeing people helping them with things and enjoying a word with everyone
Customer Service-Store Associate (Former Employee) – Surrey, BC – 9 February 2015
I have always being on time for my shift and come in the store I was ready to work hard. At this work I learned how to do display a product, and merchandise from diagram how it was pictured. I was getting along with others very great and smiling towards customers. The hardest part on the job was that I couldn't assemble a furniture together but I asked for help on it . I enjoyed greeting customers and helping them out find items what they were looking for answering to their questions.
General Laborer (Former Employee) – Brantford, ON – 13 January 2015
The job it self was productive lots of physical labor. We had to pick order for stores. The management wasn't very fair they had friends working there or their family and they were favored. The co-workers where always gossiping or sleeping with everyone. The hardest part of the job was listening to everyone complain about each other. The most enjoyable part of my job was when I did independant jobs alone.
To much favoritism to many family and friends worked there
