Physiotherapist Job Description

LiquidGym Inc. Therapy and Training Centre offers the following services:

Comprehensive evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal and biomechanical dysfunction
Manual therapy treatments to include joint mobilization, manipulation and soft tissue techniques
Hydrotherapy using underwater treadmills and underwater bikes along with traditional water based therapies
Thermal and Electrotherapeutic modalities for acute injury management
Extended, one-on-one treatments / evaluations of 30, 45, or 60 minutes
Specialized Therapeutic services are provided using, Dartfish Video Analysis Software, Hydroworx Underwater Treadmill, Hydrorider Underwater Bike, Endless Pool Swim Current and TRX Training System.


The Physiotherapist provides comprehensive diagnostic and intervention services to clients with acute and chronic disorders of musclo-skeletal, neurological or cardiopulmonary systems to attain, maintain or regain optimum levels of health. Physiotherapists are also expected to participate actively in quality improvement initiatives and facilitate the delivery of quality services with the multidisciplinary team. Physiotherapy services are provided in accordance with legislation, standards, guidelines and ethics of the CCHSA, provincial licensing body, Canadian Physiotherapy Association
Treatment involves encouraging exercise and movement by the use of techniques such as therapeutic movement and exercise therapy, massage, manipulation, electrotherapy and/or hydrotherapy.
The suitable applicant needs to value quality intervention, demonstrate initiative and needs to be comfortable treating independently on a 30/45/60 minute appointment schedule.
Some marketing is required as applicant will have access to member clients, but may also see non-member clients in this state of the art land and water based facility.

Tasks include:

working with patients/clients to identify the physical problem;
developing and reviewing treatment programmes;
assisting patients with joint and spinal problems, especially following surgery;
helping patients' rehabilitation following accidents, injury and strokes;
provide on-going evaluation of client progress;
perform clinical assessments, set goals and provide treatment plans for clients;
provide therapy exercise program using Physiotec Software
supervising physiotherapy assistants;
maintains complete and accurate client records, assessment notes and required correspondence required by, but not limited to MVA, WSIB and Private Insurance Providers.
knowledge and use of Electronic Heath Records
collecting patient statistics;
educating and advising patients and their carer giviers about how to prevent and/or improve conditions;
keeping up to date with new techniques and technologies available for treating patients;
liaising with other healthcare personnel to supply and receive relevant information about the background and progress of patients, as well as referring patients who require other specific medical attention;
being legally responsible and accountable;
managing clinical risk.

Job Qualifications

Three - Five years experience in a variety of practice contexts and populations is preferred - 3 years experience post graduation
Knowledge of current Physiotherapy theory and standards of practice.
Hydrotherapy experience considered an asset
Knowledge of Physiotec Software an asset
Experience in using Electronic Heath Records for client data collection
Time management and well developed organization skills to manage a large and varied caseload.
Ability to solve problems through flexibility, adaptability and creativity to work within available resources.
Ability to communicate through verbal and written means to effectively provide physiotherapy services to a multidimensional patient population.
Knowledge of cross cultural issues and potential ramifications for treatment planning and implementation.
The ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Collaboration with massage therapists, personal trainers, various fitness program instructors and coaches
Knowledge of and ability to apply supervisory skills.
Active membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and College of Physiotherapy of Ontario
An interest in sports and physical activity is required.
Acupuncture/IntraMuscular Stimulation an asset but not required.
Assistive Devices Certification is an asset
Experience in community health

Education, Certifications

Baccalaureate or Masters Degree in Physiotherapy from a recognized university
Current CPR and First Aid certificates

Caseload development is primarily generated through word-of-mouth and cross referrals from members, kinesiologists, registered massage therapists and multiple exercise practitioners and professional sporting coaches. Clientele is 100% private with an enforced full-fee cancellation policy. Remuneration is competitive and based on experience, and is paid on direct monthly billings, rather than receivables. Financial incentive will be considered for therapists transferring their own caseload.
This is a contract position position is based on a 37.5 hour per week full tme position The suitable candidate will need to provide a minimum of 4-5 shifts per week (20 hours), with an opportunity of moving towards a full time position with possible management responsibilities. October 15, 2013, start date.
