Cashier/Assistant (Former Employee) – Windsor, ON – 11 March 2014
I love Laura Secord, I had a great staff that I worked with they were easy going, and always happy. A typical day, would be busy, fast paced. Dealing with dissatisfied customer was the hardest part of my job. Most enjoyment was working in a good environment.
Keyholder/Cashier, Part-time (Current Employee) – Ottawa, ON – 21 April 2017
It's a great second job but don't let them lie to you. Full-time is not an option. They will tell you it is. You will be asked not to get a second job (they may even promise you full-time to get you to not look for another job) You will be blamed for their ancient computer systems messing up Managers will avoid actual management at all costs Even if you are "full time" you won't get benefits.
Job is easy, coworkers were decent
obvious favouritisim, lying/dishonest managers, no full-time, no benefits for "acting full-time" low hours
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) – Saint John, IN – 9 January 2017
Always staffed at less than bare minimum. Company does not adhere to labour laws. Staff are expected to work without breaks, not even a washroom break, until 5+ hours into shifts. Frequently working a complete 5.5 hour shift without a single break. Company uses its camera systems to watch employees, not for loss prevention. Management considers its employees as warm bodies, and not as employees.
Key Holder (Former Employee) – Ottawa, ON – 15 March 2016

Cashier and money management (Former Employee) – Lynden park Mall, Brantford Ontario – 3 September 2015
I would go in, open up the show case and ice cream counter, get set up and prepared for the day. I learned a lot about working at cash and handling customer situations very well as well as doing inventory. The management was amazing but promised more hours then they could give, the hardest part of the job was Christmas rush and the most enjoyable part was working in a great environment and safe workplace.
Associate (Former Employee) – Dartmouth, NS – 7 May 2014
Laura Secord was a good environment to work in, I enjoyed the people and the work itself. I opened and closed the store, worked cash, served ice cream, wrapped chocolate/gifts in a presentable manager, knowledge of product, and upsold all product.
Sales Associate/Cashier (Former Employee) – Brantford, ON – 15 March 2014
Scooping ice cream, selling chocolate... Seeing smiles of people and stories of traditions. Great Job only downside was pay and available hours. Served me well for years while in school. Not money to raise a family on, but great fun for the part time job seeker.
Manager (Former Employee) – Ottawa, ON – 26 September 2013
I managed 2 stores so my days were spent travelling between these outlets. Most days were pretty laid back and because of what we sold there were not many complaints or problem customers. Holidays would and could boost up to 80 or 90% in a very short period of time so we always had to plan ahead and make sure we had sufficient stock and staff to be able to meet customer expectations. There really wasn't too much that I could complain about in this position other than it was pretty busy travelling as much as I did between the 2 stores and it was not always easy to recruit stable staff on the part-time hours that were available so I ended up covering many extra shifts myself. Obviously the most enjoyable part of this job was having to maintain freshness with all of our stock which meant regularly tasting and sampling the chocolate. Management was very good and kept store managers and staff up-to-date on any new changes within the company and regularly held meetings to touch base and take suggestions from both management and staff.
Training consisted of tasting all the chocolate. Good wages and full benefits.
Customer Service Rep (Former Employee) – Sarnia, ON – 21 August 2013
This was the longest and best job I worked. I learned much about the workplace, as this was also my first management role at the age of 17. I worked here for nearly four years, and watched the company grow and change many times. Management was thorough in their explanations and their task dispense, they made sure we always understood what was going on. I learned to deal with these changes comfortably, and accept and work with them. My co workers were fabulous, and wonderful people. I made many friends from this job and still see them often to this day. There wasn't really anything hard about the job that I can remember, I enjoyed 100% of my work. Even the cleaning.
comfortable pace, good customer base, good management
