Primary Objective:

The Logistics Planner is responsible for analyzing and coordinate the logistical functions of a firm or organization. Responsible for the entire life cycle of a product, including acquisition, distribution, internal allocation, delivery, and final disposal of resources.

Specific Role Accountabilities:

General Duties

  • Provide team with everyday comprehensive reporting data along with tracking information
  • In charge of all outbound shipments with regards to produce required for orders and what should be packed on individual trucks
  • Arrange outbound shipments and organize load plans according to orders that have been placed
  • Coordinate and investigate client logistic associated charge backs like shortages, lost/ damage product in transit and missed deliveries with account representative
  • Perform on going evaluation and review of transportation arrangement for constant improvement opportunities.
  • Identify optimal freight solutions and select best mode of transportation to reduce cost position, while focusing on truck utilization
  • Work directly with shipping to improve load profitability and reduce negative freight income
  • Track the timing of trucks and timing of orders to ensure that they are reaching their destination within the allotted time frame
  • Updates to keep track of orders as to when the trucks will be arriving at destination, and proactively communicate to customers about potential delivery delays
  • Ensuring there are correct number of trucks for booked orders, order extra if needed
  • Other duties, tasks, special projects as assigned


  • Maintain constant and daily communication with Logistics Manager and other support staff departments upon request or absence of manager
  • Communicate with cross-functional teams to solve logistic issues that could impact the customers’ expectations

Working Conditions

  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Overtime as required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in Business or Transportation/Logistics Management is preferred
  • 2+ years of progressive logistics, transportation and distribution experience strongly desired
  • Strong knowledge of transportation management, logistics background required
  • Must have effective communication skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks all with an attention to fine detail
  • Excellent written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization and its executive team
  • Additional Spanish based oral communication skills an asset
  • Agricultural experience and asset
  • Strong quantitative and critical thinking skills
