We have an immediate opening for an Associate Buyer position. The Associate Buyer plans and manages the full breadth and depth of inventory each season to enable maximum sales and profitability.
-Strategize cohesive seasonal merchandise mix based on market trends, client expectations and company objectives
-Build optimal purchase plan for the season using department and brand analytics
-Achieve targeted sales, margin and profit KPIs through judicious open-to-buy management
-Review store performance and collaborate on business objectives with strategic management team
-Enthusiastically lead by example, representing LUX Beauty Boutique core values and brand
-Research and assess new brand vendors, communicate partner expectations, and share performance results
-Negotiate and monitor vendor pricing, discounts, payment terms, exclusivity, co-op marketing, sales support and return to vendor agreements.
-Place orders accurately and efficiently to maintain optimal stock breadth and depth
-Track delivery dates, stock discrepancies, exchange rates, landed costs and invoicing
-Set optimal retail pricing based on financial inputs and objectives
-Schedule and authorize brokerage and deliveries
-Inform store of open orders, changes to inventory and expected arrival dates
-Manage inventory arrival, receipt, and merchandising
-Analyze stock, department and brand metrics to maximize inventory planning and financial results
-Maintain up-to-date open-to-buy spreadsheet across brands, departments and store
-Share weekly department sell-through and stock performance with sales team
-Plan markdown and exit strategies
-Administer stock swaps, credit notes, RTVs, end-of-season agreements, and inventory counts.
-Develop a comprehensive understanding of our market, competitors and core clients
-Collaborate with sales and merchandising team on content and balance of inventory
-Procure product and promotional support from vendors
-Bachelor’s degree in Merchandising, Commerce or related field
-Excellent planning, analytic and business skills
-Demonstrates initiative, sense of urgency and achievement
-Excellent awareness of market trends, exemplary retailing and customer needs
-Experience in planning, allocation, buying, and merchandising within retail industry
-Exceptional organizational skills with a high attention to detail
-Strong mathematic and computing skills with expertise in Microsoft Excel
-Effective negotiation skills and experience maintaining vendor relationships
-May involve an opportunity to travel to retail conferences in North America
**NOTE: This position is funded under the Youth Employment Strategy (YES) Program. To be eligible for the YES Program, applicants must:
- be Canadian citizens, permanent residents or persons who have been granted refugee status in Canada
- have graduated from a post-secondary institution
- be between 15 and 30 years old (inclusive)
- be legally entitled to work according to relevant provincial legislation and regulations

$45,000-$55,000 based on experience including performance bonuses and health benefits.
