Appliance Repair Technician (NOC #7332) (2 vacancies)

Terms of Employment:
Permanent, Full Time (Overtime, Day, Evening, Weekend)

Wage: $15 to $21 Hourly, for 40.00 Hours per week
Anticipated Start Date: As Soon as Possible
Work Location Information: Urban area, Various locations
Work Location: 99 N Second Ave, Williams Lake, BC V2G 1Z3 (home base)
Work Setting: Residential and Commercial customers’ premises and/or indoors at a workbench in a shop - servicing large appliances requires moving appliances (which may weigh over 20 kg) and a considerable amount of standing, stooping, kneeling and reaching.
Transportation/Travel Information: Company vehicle provided, Willing to travel
Skill Requirements:
Education: Completion of high school Experience: Over 12 month
Languages: Speak English, Read English
Job Duties and Responsibilities: Determine why an appliance is not working by getting a description of the problem from the customer; trying the appliance and checking for the most likely causes (for example, faulty electrical connections); use specialized tools and testing devices to locate the source of a problem; consult manufacturers' service manuals and bulletins when the cause of a problem is not readily apparent; disassemble the appliance, clean all internal parts and replace any faulty or worn parts reassemble; adjust and test the appliance to be sure it is working properly; answer customers' questions; give cost estimates; advise customers on correct appliance use and care, and demonstrate the proper operation of appliances; prepare work orders, complete the necessary reports for billing, and maintain records for parts inventories and future service calls.
Additional Skills: Customer service oriented, Ability to work alone with little supervision; Good mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity, Good eyesight and colour vision; Ability to pay careful attention to details; ability to lift items weighing over 25 kilograms; Willingness to keep up to date with changing technology; Ability to figure things out on their own; Neat appearance; Ability to deal with customers in a courteous and tactful manner.
