Description:
Required for a Power Utilities Producer, which acquires or develops, owns and operates innovative and environmentally responsible power projects. The facility is a 150 MW coal fired generating station.

Reporting to the Director the incumbent will:
Plan, organize, direct and control the operation of the generating station through the development of business plans and budgetary control, health & safety and protection and monitoring of the environment.
 Leads, motivates and organizes the team to ensure that the power station operates at optimum output and efficiency while also achieving its safe and profitable operation (from fuel supply to electricity output).
 Aligns the station’s human resource, technological and operational plans with company’s strategic plan and instill the plan into the culture of the plant.
 Listens and guides the team to ensure that the team is operating at maximum effectiveness.
 Leads and develops the annual operating and capital budgets and forecasts for the plant.
 Monitors plant performance to identify operating characteristics and takes necessary action to prevent or limit failures to optimize efficiency and availability of the station.
 Ensures the team proactively troubleshoots all electrical and mechanical issues and performs preventative maintenance to ensure the proper and continuing operation of the plant.
 Ensures that health and safety procedures are communicated, accepted and following by all employees and contractors.
 Plays a positive and active role in the community.

Qualifications:
 B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, P.Eng. or First Class Power Engineer Certificate
 Considerable technical knowledge in the operation and/or maintenance of an electric utility plant.
 A history of building strong cohesive high performing, motivated well organized teams
 Ideally, leadership experience in a coal fired or thermal plant. Managerial experience in an operating plant environment (power, manufacturing, oil and gas ) will be considered.
 Familiarity with and a high degree of comfort in analyzing financial statements and forecasts.
 Proven ability to work effectively with a strategic plan and outstanding business acumen with the ability to engage and inspire at all levels.
 Maintenance, parts and operations management experience would be an asset.
 Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
 Strong team leader with credibility and is persuasive and inspiring.
 Someone who is not afraid to make hard decisions and who easily wins the respect of others through their strong listening skills and subsequent actions.
 An independent practical thinker who is firm but fair and communicates decisions effectively.
 Highly motivates with strong communication and organizational skills.
 Naturally detail oriented, but has the ability to see the big picture.
 A methodical doer with strong problem solving skills.
 A convincing decisive charismatic individual
