A company that needs much growth in all aspects with very low morale of employees
Pros: benefits, paid holidays
Unfortunately, though the day to day job is fulfilling, it's difficult to find it enjoyable when the company culture and morale is so poor. All field employees (which makes up more then 1/2 of the employees) were looking for new jobs when I departed. Things you can expect if you work for Kumon (all of which occurred during my time there):
-Management – more... runs the company as it is based in a 3rd world country. They promote and demote with no notice or documentation. They do not trust any of their employees and everything is withheld from the staff. Salaries are so low compared to the market and the level of work they expect from you. Annual reviews are based on NO merit or metrics.
-You should plan to spend about 4 weeks of travel throughout the year for useless trainings, which you are not forewarned of when taking the position.
-Its a HUGE rumor mill, the BOARD and the EXECUTIVE team gossip about the employees and decide within 5 minutes of knowing you whether they like you and you will go somewhere or not!
-You get promoted only if you are only of Asian or Indian decent. I saw numerous 5+ year employees demoted to have 3 month employees take their place. No joke!
At the end of the day it's a huge depressing pit, I resigned on my own and didn't realize how bad the culture there had weighed on me until I was out of it.
Stay far away - it's NOT worth it! – less
