Excellent learning opportunities with a difficult work-life balance.
Federal Tax Associate (Current Employee), Minneapolis, MN – February 26, 2013
The firm is an excellent place to launch a career because of it's focus on teaching and providing vast exposure to all types of business entities and areas. As with most public accounting firms, there is room for improvement in work-life balance, especially during tax season.

Professional, rewarding place to start a career
Human Resources, Benefits Specialist (Former Employee), Dallas, TX – February 19, 2013
Pros: great benefits, and a professional setting and attiude explemplied by all employees and upper management.
Cons: slow climb towards career advancement. limited training opportunities/budget.
Began my career here in Human Resources. Spent 4 years there. Learned invaluable lessons in the importance of customer service and baseline HR policies and practices that must be adhered to in order to sustain a professional workforce. Also learned the intricacies of hiring concerns and the strategy behind attracting top-notch talent from undergrad.

Great place to start a career
Audit Associate (Current Employee), New York, NY – February 14, 2013
Pros: team of choice - an initiative where teams can make up "busy season" rules, such as 5 o'clock fridays, no eating lunch at your desk, etc.
Cons: teams who do not follow team of choice
KPMG is a great place for anyone in the accounting field to start their career. I love the way the auditing practice is structured. The learning environment was very conducive to the way I learn best- hands on.

Work life balance is a piece that KPMG needs to work on. Some teams embrace it wholeheartedly, while others completely forget about it... especially – more... during "busy season". Typically, busy season lasts from the beginning of the year through February. However, this should not mean that during those two months, you have absolutely no life outside of work. Being asked to work 7 days a week for anywhere between 4-7 weeks at a time is, in my mind, too much to ask.

Also, I graduated with a Master's degree. However, associates who started at the same time I did with only a Bachelor's degree get paid the same as I do. – less

I would not recommend working here!
I Financial Services Regulatory Risk Consultant (Current Employee), Dallas, TX – February 13, 2013
The partners in the practice I worked for did not care about their employees and were only focused on the next win. They did not care about the development of their staff and were not interested in the success of anyone but themselves. Also, diversity among the senior managers/directors/partners did not exist as it is seen at the staff level.

Energizing place to work, supporting a Federal Government Intelligence Organization
Director (Current Employee), McLean, VA – February 13, 2013
Assisting an Intelligence Agency to change all processes and systems to manage assets. Hardest part is to change a culture of obfuscation of information into one of transparency

Pros & Cons
Internship (Former Employee), Houston, TX – February 9, 2013
As an Intern I was responsible for preparing tax returns for expats. I learned tax treaties and laws that influence corporate decisions for sending employees to overseas projects.
Excellent co-workers which makes it fun to work crazy hours during busy season.
During busy season the work life balance is poor. There is very limited option for advancement – more... within the company.
If you can stay long enough you will be rewarded. – less

Working with a multinational
Executive (Current Employee), Gurgaon – January 31, 2013
Pros: just the brandname associated with the multinational
Cons: long hours very necessary to get promotions
Working with a multinational has its own pros and cons.
Life's good there till u get married. After marriage, work is only assigned just to keep u busy.
Management everywhere is same, be it a govt department, or a private company, or even an MNC. Work culture is same everywhere. Female employees are hardly promoted. Promotions are restricted on the – more... grounds of marriage, and more so, when u become a mother. – less

Associate (Former Employee), Atlanta – January 30, 2013
I took up the offer with KPMG, only to realize that a fresh out of under grad from college gets paid the same as me. I completed my masters and plus I have couple of years of experience. I am thoroughly disappointed.

Enjoyable; always provide courses to advance your career.
Senior Secretary - Prior to July 1, 1999 (Former Employee), Honolulu, Hawaii – January 27, 2013
Pros: everyone was always willing to give a helping hand whether it pertains to work or community service.
Cons: not enough time during the work day to go online for courses being offered pertaining to my job.
Worked Monday - Friday from 8:00A - 5:00P.

Had worked with various electronic equipment (electrical typewriters, Wang, Compaq, MS) telex, fax, various copiers.

At the beginning, I worked with 12 admin co-workers, then down to 4.

The hardest part of the job is seeing the loss of personnel/clients.

The most enjoyable and relaxing is getting together – more... with both the admin and professional staff on an outing. – less

Big 4 Experience
Senior Administrative Assistant, Advisory Services (Former Employee), Philadelphia, PA – January 27, 2013
Overall, I learned a great deal while working with KPMG. I would give it higher ratings, but my job was eliminated for a corporate restructure that cannot be explained. I was also given notice right before the holidays, so perhaps the firm could brush up on their tact and sense of appreciation for those that work so very hard for them.
