Position: FULL-TIME Law Clerk / Legal Assistant position reporting to a Litigation Lawyer with a General Practice

Location: Richmond Hill, ON
Start Date: As Soon As Possible
Compensation: TBD

Job Description:
-Preparing routine legal documents and correspondence for review by supervising lawyer
-Preparing correspondence and routine legal document such as: Affidavit of Documents, Motion Records, Pleadings, Factums, Pre-trial Memorandums, Motion Records, Mediation Memorandums and arrange for the service & filing of documents in and outside of the GTA
-Serving copies of documents and correspondence to opposing Counsel.
-Managing litigation files including bringing files up for review on regular basis
-Preparation of or request for title searches, claims for lien etc.
-Maintaining accurate and up-to-date client docket and expense information in PC LAW
-Transcribing legal dictation
-Organizing and maintaining law libraries, document files, and case files.
-Assisting with management of litigation matters
-Assisting lawyer in preparation for motions, mediations, pre-trials and trials
-Assisting in managing and maintaining key internal/external client relationships.
-Developing effective office processes and procedures as necessary
-Liaising with clients, court houses and other law firms via correspondence, email and telephone
-Calendar Management (Outlook)

Required Skill Set:
-Law Clerk/Legal Assistant Diploma or Previous Work Experience Required
-Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point)
-Knowledge of Legal Software: PC Law,
-Excellent typing skills (50 w.p.m. minimum)
-Knowledge of legal process, procedures documentation and compliance
-Excellent administrative and legal writing skills
-Legal drafting skills
-Excellent communications skills
-Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities
-Ability to work independently, take initiative, prioritize projects and follow instructions with minimal supervision
-Ability to work in a systematic and orderly manner
-Precision, attention to detail, resourceful and adaptable to complex legal issues
-Client confidentiality and professionalism
-Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet demanding deadlines
