Great company, but NO sponsorship
Accountant (Former Employee), Moline, ILMarch 29, 2013
Pros: great environment, skills
Cons: no sponsorship
It is a great company to start up, fun and safe environment. Great management and team-orientated. But John Deere does not provide the H1-B visa or green card petition, which makes foreign employees hard to keep up.

welder (Former Employee), des moines iowaMarch 12, 2013
Pros: $17
Cons: probation period/ union/ atmosphere
Cost rising quality decreasing. Management is trained to be dictators compared to management. There bonus incentive is corrupt and stupid on the business side. The union is weak and very unprofessional. The plus is 17$ / hr. Also the have a ridiculous 7 month probation period in which upon completion means nothing because u don't receive any real benefits – more... for 1 yr., – less

I enjoyed contracting with this company.
Technical Writer (Contractor) (Former Employee), Augusta, GAFebruary 20, 2013
Pros: excellent work environment
During my employment as a contractor with John Deere, I was assigned various technical documentation tasks including tractor kit installation instructions and owner's manals. My project managers were very thorough in preparing me for the project with documention, contacts, and technicians to assist in any manner necessary. I enjoyed being able to have – more... hands on experience with installing kits and having products available for audit purposes. – less

Pros: great benefits, challenging, opportunity
Cons: located in iowa
John Deere treats it's employees great, they always provided ample training and were very good to work for. Great benefits, the starting pay was low but I was able to work my way up and earn a decent living. I Only wish John Deere Credit was in Colorado.

Antiquated, risk adverse culture with mediocre management, division not profitable
Process Engineer (Former Employee), San Marcos, CaJanuary 17, 2013
Pros: good benefits and decent pay, division of the john deere company
Cons: a struggling division in a very competitive industry.
The John Deere Water division is not profitable most likely due to management and misalignment of goals and priorites.

John Deere Water is "scrambling" to become profitable by 2014 and with the frenzy, priorites shift often.

The antiquated, risk adverse culture is still of the mindset of the previous 3 legacy companies that were accquired and have – more... not yet adopted the John Deere culture, but are working towards it.

San Marcos, Ca facility is being shuttered in mid 2013 and further restructuring is forthcoming.

Many project responsiblities are given, but without the authority and resouces to execute. – less
