Assistant Manager (Former Employee) – Calgary, AB – 19 February 2017
this was by far the worst company I have ever worked for. The pay is horrendous for the amount of work they expect from you. Very vindictive management (they make your work life difficult if you make a mistake) expectation to clock out for bathroom breaks (no bathroom in store) head office does not take your concerns seriously. the company does not care about your personal life and refusal to follow availability from store managers. I enjoyed getting to know all the sports teams (Jersey City) and most of the people you meet while on the job.
Store Manager (Current Employee) – Canada – 12 November 2017
Due to rushed expansion throughout Canada, the company has been spread too far without having the right people in place to handle the workload. COMPLETE lack of central leadership from upper management, terrible pay in comparison to similar positions at most other retail operations, little regard by upper management for unique issues at individual stores, and almost no communication from upper management to the store level often leaving store managers in sink or swim situations for absolutely no reason. Very frustrating experience working for Lids Canada, would not recommend seeking employment with the company unless you're a glutton for punishment.
Low pay, complete lack of central leadership, minimal communication between upper management and store level
