Job Description

Title: Electrician

Number of Openings: 75

Department: Projects – Green Power Project

Reports to: Foreman, Project Manager

Location: The job is based in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, however travel to other project sites in Canada is required.

Duration: One to two years, depending on project progress

Compensation: $34.50/h, pension and health benefits

Work Hours: Full-time, 40 h/week, overtime at 1.5 times regular wages

Responsibilities and Tasks

- Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications to the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes
- Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem
- Pull wire through conduits and through holes in walls and floors
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components
- Install brackets and hangers to support electrical equipment
- Install, replace and repair fixtures and electrical control and distribution equipment, such as switches, relays and circuit breaker panels
- Splice, join and connect wire to fixtures and components to form circuits
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes
- Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system
- Troubleshoot and isolate faults in electrical and electronic systems and remove and replace faulty components
- Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools
- Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records
- Actively participate in the safety program of Iyinisiw
- Other tasks as related to electrical work as assigned during the course of business

Required Qualifications
- Completion of secondary school or a minimum of eight years work experience
- Completion of a four-year apprenticeship or training program or a combination of over four years of work experience in the trade and some college or industry courses in electrical work
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Welder trade certification is considered an asset
- Safety tickets are considered an asset
- Interprovincial Red Seal is an asset
- Valid driver’s license is an asset
