Bilingual Financial Consultant (Current Employee) – Toronto – 10 April 2014
A typical day at work, first i reply any urgent email. Follow up on any outstanding request with client and internal. Connect with potential client. make call to book meeting or attend meeting with new client. I learn what people are exicted about, cause i asked them what are your goals, dreams. What success means to them. The hardest part of my job is to find people who are willing to seat donw with me and show them what i do and how i can help them achieved their dreams financialy. I enjoyed when i put together a financial plan for a client, review it with them and see a smile on they face, cause now the have a plan in place they can look forward to achieve their goals.
Meeting interesting people, family from different walk of life.
not meeting enough people to teach the value of a Financial Plan
CONSULTANT (Current Employee) – Edmonton, AB – 9 October 2017
You must be completely committed and work your butt off. The company does good work for people and as a consultant your biggest challenge will always be getting in front of enough people. But if you are consistent with your prospecting efforts, you'll make enough money to hold out until you can buy some assets and continue to grow your practice.
Financial Advisor (Former Employee) – North York, ON – 5 October 2017
Great training in financial service industry, good for people who is good at cold calling and prospecting. They offer a good first year new people bonus program but not sure they still have it for now.
good training and good bonus program for new people

Professional sales/Investment broker (Former Employee) – Calgary, AB – 21 September 2017
A typical day was starting on the phones calling for new prospective clients. I learned the inner financial workings of large business.. the management at this company was very supportive and helpful always offering help and positive feedback. I still have many friends from this company. The most enjoyable part of this job was creating a full week of meetings with ongoing and new clients, Golfing with clients and of course signing deals.
Financial Advisor (Former Employee) – Edmonton, AB – 10 September 2017
Only a good business opportunity because they instruct you to get your Mutual Fund license first. Once you have that license, you cannot go and find another job to supplement your purely commission-based income. As a new hire, they need to understand that it can take some time for people to get their practice up and running. You better have a spouse or a partner who has steady employment and can support the household while you get your career up and running. Not recommended for single people who rely on a steady income to support themselves. You will go broke fast if you don't have what it takes to hustle and find rich people willing to invest. Most families I helped were up to their ears in debt and were looking for help to get out of it, not to invest. Did mostly loan consolidations through home equity loans or re-mortgage.
freedom of workday schedule
No flexibility in employment options to support a commission income
Very flexible, but it's not as easy as they make it seem!
Associate Consultant (Current Employee) – London, ON – 1 September 2017
Investors Group offers good training on products to its employees, but very little sales training. If you're a natural sales person this could be a good fit for you. If you're not, don't get drawn in by the potential to make money. Financial services is a tough business!
Good company but lack of training available to employees
Financial Advisor (Former Employee) – St. John's, NL – 29 August 2017
Throughly enjoyed the people I worked with however there was not much guidance to its new consultants. Need more training available so consultants can feel confident going into appointments with prospective clients. Also believe fees should be lower for newer consultants starting out.
EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT TO DIVISION DIRECTOR (Current Employee) – Brantford, ON – 14 August 2017
IG is a great place to work. The hours are great. I enjoy working with the people in the office. If you are a new consultant, the hardest part of the job is finding clients and the continuous motivation. The management team is very supportive and helpful.
