Project Manager (3 – 4 months contract with possibility for an extension) for an early stage venture capital backed start-up. On-line store/eCommerce. Initially based in North Vancouver with a move to Downtown Vancouver scheduled next month.
You should be an experienced project manager (PMP is preferred) with a background in IT, web or start-up businesses. The ideal candidate will have already managed these types of projects and will be able to add their experience with eCommerce and web-marketing to the team and the project. This position will be one of the more senior level within the small team (currently 12 person but growing quickly) and as such, the successful candidate will be seen as coach and mentor for some of the more junior team members. The work environment is fun dynamic and sometimes very chaotic and the teams generally very energetic

You’ll be responsible for leading our multi-functional team in building and implementing web based on line store, content management, and /or mobile projects.
Ensuring stakeholders have a clear view of activities, milestones, costs, and risks at all times and liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis. Provide regular reports to all stakeholders on project status. Facilitate meetings to discuss progress and resolve issues
Lead and perform all components of planning, executing and closing, with emphasis on Project Planning & Scheduling, Status Reporting, Issue Identification & Resolution, Risk Management, Change Management, Scope Management, Budget Tracking and Forecasting. Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations. Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas
Assign project work assignments and tasks to project teams - managing schedules, budgets, assets, scope, and overall project organization to ensure requirements and dates are clearly communicated and executed Provide methodology, processes, and tools to increase team effectiveness. Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals. Where required, negotiate with other departments for the acquisition of required personnel from within or outside the company. Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path. Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans. Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.
PMP Certification, or relevant degree/diploma and relevant work experience
3 years’ experience managing Web or IT projects
Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects
Excellent presentation and interpersonal communications skills
Demonstrated ability to work with and support cross-functional project teams
Ability to understand and document project requirements and dependencies
Understanding of business and functional requirements
Strong attention to detail and focus on task completion is critical
Experience with the design and development of websites, web applications and an understanding of web technologies and third party applications and platforms
Familiarity with applications used for project management and communications in a modern agency environment such as Microsoft Project
Desirable qualifications: Foreign language skills
