Great company to have had the pleasure to work for 24 yrs .
Instant Service Agent (PBX) (Former Employee), New Orleans, LA – December 13, 2012
Pros: benefits
Cons: hurricane katrina, lost a lot of long time associates
I started working for the InterContinental hotel in Sept. of 1985 as a Room Attendant. Throughout the years I was promoted to Supervisor, Sr. Supv. and Housekeeping Mgr. My goal was to reach the top and become the Director of Housekeeping. At this time we had a superb Director and I knew to reach this goal I would have to resign and this is the only – more... reason I left the hotel. – less

Busy days with great co-workers
Front Desk Agent (Former Employee), Fort Knox, KY – December 4, 2012
Everyday I'd come on shift and grab my checklist for the time-of-day I was working- morning or evening. Then I'd begin printing off reports for the day while answering phone calls, taking reservations, and dealing with guests in the lobby. Some days I would work as the reservationist for the office and take in group reservations, overbooking, etc. The – more... hardest part of the job was the weeks where we had our Army class students come. Hundreds would come in a day, usually in bus loads. You had to be fast and efficient with every guest. I'd need their orders, their information, make sure they were in the same hotel as the rest of their class, etc. On some occasions names weren't listed so I'd have to look up other information in the computer, usually by class to try and find the guest's name. It could sometimes be a very difficult process. But I adapted quickly and became very good at my job. – less

Better than some I guess
Weekend Manager (Former Employee), Knoxville, TN – November 12, 2012
Pros: full 32 hours over the weekend, and have the week off.
Cons: almost everything here.
Only working the weekends was great, but all the drama and low end staff made it hard to want to stay and do well. There are NO chances for advancement here, because the management have settled in.

Working With Continental Hotel was one of the best experience i have had working with any company.Unfotunately due to leaving for another country i gave up that job. However, because of my experiences working with Continental Hotel in the UK, i would welcome working for them here in the USA. Continental to me represent honesty and integrity.

Great Workplace
Assistant Chef (Working Experience) (Former Employee), Hyde's Park, London – September 22, 2012
Pros: free lunches
Cons: long hours
There's a lot of things I've learnt from the Chefs such as preparing food. They also decorate the Restaurant place of the Hotel. The co-workers in the Kitchen are all fast workers and hard workers. The most enjoyable part of the Job for me is mostly everything. I don't really find anything hard on the job when assisting the Chefs.

Productive and challenging working environment
DBA Holiday Inn Anaheim Resorts (Former Employee), Anaheim, CA – September 19, 2012
Pros: able to obtain discounts on products and tickets from disneyland.
Cons: can't think of one single con while working for this very nice employer.
A typical day at work was always filled with anticipation to complete all necessary accounting reports with the satisfaction of having accurately achieved the daily goals.
Learned to focus on learning new skills by attending professional seminars related to our career in the hospitality industry. Our Controller always encouraged our advancing our education – more... by allowing us time to attend some workshops with specialized training.

Co-workers were always positive and cooperative. .

The hardest part of the job related to technology failing or computer crashing and causing delays in accomplishing our daily balancing tasks.
The most enjoyable part of the job was the support received from our Controller, always willing to listen and offering his expertise on how to do the job more efficiently. The support from the people working at the Corporate Office in Atlanta were invaluable. There was never a time when they would not be helpful or encouraging, always willing to help with any of our questions and guidance as needed.
My only regret was to leave this company because of the commuting time, I should have moved to Anaheim in order to stay with the company. – less

Barista (Former Employee), chicago,il – September 12, 2012
Pros: free lunch, free stay at hotel after a year, nice view of north michigan avenue and free wash service for uniforms
Cons: some of the co-workers
MY day involved setting up displays, clean tables and sweeping the floor. Makingdrinks and taking orders and being able to conversate with the various guest. I learned a lot about preparing drinks, and being a productive team member. The hardest part was trying to provide friendly service to every customer or if we had an overwhelming amount of customers. – more... The best part was meeting new people – less
