Located out of our Calgary office the NGL Commercial Analyst reports to the Manager Gas Supply & Joint Ventures, and will be responsible for providing analytical, forecasting and reporting services for the acquisition of gas supply at the Cochrane and Empress Straddle Plants and activities associated with the Empress Joint Venture assets.

Key Activities and Responsibilities:

Gas Supply
Contract management and customer interface:

  • Monitor daily gas deliveries at the Cochrane plant to ensure compliance with contract terms
  • Initiate set up of existing contracts and changes to existing contracts in Quorum
  • Review complex monthly settlement statements and ensure compliance with contract terms
  • Field calls from suppliers to resolve settlement statement discrepancies

Gas supply contract development:

  • Analyze market conditions and expectations to understand impacts of competing pipeline and straddle plant projects on Extraction Rights
  • Assist with the annual Extraction Rights strategy
  • Prepare economic analysis and deal evaluation prior to negotiation on a per shipper basis
  • Develop contract proposals and modification of general terms and conditions

Extraction Rights cost management:

  • Update and maintain various NGL forecasting models
  • Develop and maintain monthly/yearly scorecards
  • Assist in the annual budgeting process for the NGL business unit

Joint Venture
Empress operations:

  • Monitor daily gas deliveries at the Empress plants to ensure compliance with the contract terms
  • Prepare AFE’s for new capital and expense projects
  • Develop and maintain monthly/yearly scorecards
  • Prepare monthly spending, variance, accrual and forecast summary reports
  • Review complex invoices (“JIB Billings”) and ensure compliance with contract terms
  • Assist in the annual budgeting process for the NGL business unit
  • Administrative tasks related to Empress Stewardship and operating committee activities

Education, Skills and Experience:
Business Administration diploma/degree with three to five years of experience in the oil and gas industry (candidates with operational background will be given preference)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong time management skills to be able to manage many tasks simultaneously to short deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment
  • Strong initiative and superior attention to details
  • Willingness to learn and to take on new responsibilities when required
  • Strong organization, communication and interpersonal skills
