Vice President, Marketing & Sales
Intellijoint Surgical - Waterloo, ON

The VP, Marketing and Sales will build and manage corporate marketing communications, and product marketing and sales. Reporting to the CEO, and as part of the Company’s Executive Team, the VP will provide Company leadership in marketing and sales, and coordinate activities with the schedules and plans of other departments and managers. The position includes market research and sales planning functions, US sales team recruiting, training and management functions, and marketing materials management functions. The position will be based in Waterloo, just over one hour drive from Toronto, and involves extensive travel in the US.

Job Experience

The qualified individual will have:

  • 3-5 years in planning, recruiting, training and managing successful direct and indirect sales teams selling medical devices to US hospitals and orthopedic surgeons
  • Excellent individual track record selling medical devices to US hospitals and orthopedic surgeons, hip implant sales preferred
  • Successful experience in evidence based sales using current clinical research literature in joint replacement
  • Strong clinical understanding of hip joint anatomy and surgery
  • Experience in orthopedic market research and planning analytics
  • Working knowledge of hospital economics and device reimbursement
  • Success in developing and managing internet and marketing materials for hospitals, surgeons and patients preferred

Job Responsibilities

Corporate Marketing Communications:

  • Assist CEO to develop Company’s branding, competitive positioning, external corporate activities and promotions that differentiate the Company and contribute to success of its products
  • Assist CEO and business development manager to build and manage alliances with both minor and major implant manufacturers and their independent sales forces as an important part of product sales and Company growth

Market Planning:

  • Recommend, build, and implement, quarterly marketing department and sales force plans in line with Company strategy and budgets
  • Organize worldwide market and industry research to establish marketing and sales plans and priorities
  • Organize hospital, surgeon and patient surveys and studies to confirm and update product features, and medical and economic benefits

Product Sales:

  • Recruit, train and manage the required direct and indirect sales team based on approved market and sales plan and budget
  • Develop sales rep objectives, and compensation plans that build and reward team and individual performance
  • Participate directly in building a personal sales book of important hospital accounts, and establish go to relationships with key surgeons
  • Assist the Company’s customer service manager to build a system to attain the highest level of after sale service
