Most of the project software managers were never software developers and so have little understanding of software issues. The culture of the software developers is to maintain the status quo which tends to be repressive. As a result management is very slow to realize the potential of the new features of the Oracle RDBMS which result in either them not being utilized or incorrectly utilized in some of their projects when these very features are what the company needs to be using.
There is a culture of complacency and superficiality towards rewarding workers when others have done most of the underlying work.
Tendency towards politics rather than the best solutions

They claim to be a "family" and "care for your well being" FALSE. Treated more like prisoners. Management has done a complete 180, no longer care for you as a person, you are just a number, an easily replaceable number. Many people are leaving this company, and for good reasons. HR are rude, judgmental and inconsiderate people. You cannot take washroom breaks without Managers giving you a hard time. They will have 5, unnecessary, meetings and wonder why people are behind.
Unless you want to dedicate hours ( and your health ) into endless hours of overtime to be "caught up" on files, then this is the job for you!
They hire by the bus loads, also fire you by the bus loads. No warning, even without cause or reason.

Loved working for this company in edmonton. Managers in the claims department are hard to deal with. Managers used to be good and stand by their staff. Everyone walks on pins and needles. Unable to get up from desk during unscheduled breaks. Now it's worse than being in the military. No respect for boundaries by management.

This is a corporate instilling fear culture allowing one way communication. High mircomanagement enivorment that promotes no trust toward employees. Multi/complex computer systems make negative working environment. Employees easily feel miserable and failed creating high employee turnover rates and employee stress leaves suitations.

Overall, Intact is a well run company with a positive work environment. Intact had a good training program and was supportive of development in entry level positions. The auto claims department had a high degree of turnover, especially at the management level, and this was not due to promotions. Recommendation if you had the choice would be to enter the more positive departments like underwriting.
My managers were fantastic but limited options to advance.
