General Summary

As a technical writer, you will be responsible for gathering information and producing well-written documentation. The role requires working with different stakeholders to collect required information. The characteristics of this position include: working knowledge of enterprise level Information Technology, the ability to communicate, obtain required information, and the ability to convey gathered information in a concise and effective manner.

Specific Accountabilities

  • Designing and developing documentation such as online help files, procedural and policy manuals, user guides, proposals, technical reports, and instructional materials
  • Editing documentation for format, spelling, grammar, layout, and style
  • Maintaining documents, ensuring completeness and accuracy
  • Gathering information
  • Meeting with stakeholders, users, and/or Subject Matter Experts either in-person or remotely
  • Providing technical support in procedure development understanding the process
  • Management of daily work completion
  • Participation in project team meetings

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge and skills in Technical Writing and associated illustrations
  • Well versed in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Project
  • Research, interviewing, and analytical skills
  • Editing and proofreading skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good organizational, time management and project management skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing plans
  • Interact with various stakeholders to collect, collate, design and develop content
  • Ability to express ideas clearly in writing
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Organized and able to manage time sensitive tasks
  • Must undergo a criminal check

Education and Experience

  • A degree or diploma in Communications/Technical Writing, or equivalent work experience
  • 1-2 years of documentation experience in a technical capacity
  • Practical writing and design layout experience
  • Experience with SharePoint and Adobe products is an asset
