As a key part of this team, we are currently looking for a full time Data Scientist to join our Analytics and Data Science Team. You can learn more about our culture at


Reporting to the Director Analytics and Data Science, the Data Scientist will be part of a small team responsible for text mining and analytics that focuses on data retrieved from social media. As a member of this team, you will apply your education and practical experience in data mining, quantitative analysis, and software development to lead and execute different projects involving the creation and maintenance of algorithms to organize and analyze large amounts of text data. This can involve use of one or more of the following techniques:

  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Machine Learning
  • Information Retrieval
  • Natural Language Processing
  • Probabilistic Models

We're looking for a creative and flexible team-player with the energy and intelligence to make a real contribution to the process of conceptualizing, implementing, validating and improving analytic processes and algorithms. During the course of your work, you will be involved with technologies ranging from R to Java to MongoDB.


  • Work with other engineers and analysts to identify viable solutions to business problems and implement end to end analytics solutions
  • Design and analysis of efficient algorithms for problems with Big Data, especially text data gathered from social networks using statistical and natural language processing techniques
  • Monitor accuracy of algorithms and drive continuous improvement through creative solutions

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Academic training with a combination of Computer Science and Statistical/Quantitative Analysis
  • Experience working mathematical/statistical programming languages (R, Matlab, SPSS, SAS)
  • Demonstrated programming skills (Java or Python) and working knowledge of SQL (NoSQL will be a plus)
  • Exposure to devlopment of machine learning algorithms and/or natural language processing
  • Start-up experience with ability to multi-task, innovate on own initiative, rapidly build prototypes, and communicate insights to team members
