IN DEMAND Recruitment & Consulting Inc. is currently looking to hire a BUSINESS ANALYST for our Edmonton, Alberta client.
Our client, located in Edmonton, AB, requires a Business Analyst for their organization. The Business Analyst will be reporting to the Asset Manager, the incumbent will act as an effective liaison between multiple stakeholders and provide services in the areas of financial analysis, strategic planning, investment, identification and analysis of operational problems, and development of business solutions. They will also define the nature and extent of projects by gathering and analyzing relevant information, which may include conducting research to determine the current efficiency and effectiveness of existing practices. Analyze the data collected and use background knowledge to develop proposals for improving methods, systems or procedures. Liaise with all company business units to improve the accuracy of data, data acquisition and timeliness. Conduct assessments and propose improvements to methods, systems and procedures in areas such as business operations, finance, and asset management. Utilize existing analytical tools, company data, and economic/market research information to create a solid data system to prepare business cases. Present and assist in implementation of financial recommendations within client groups, which includes assessment of business opportunities and assisting clients in developing strategies to invest capital and/or reduce costs. Coordinate the AFE (capital expenditures) requests, which include supporting the Construction Services team in editing and proof-reading business documents, business plans, and AFE worksheets. Analyze operations, discover trends, prepare and summarize monthly information for frequent financial reports for meetings on different management levels to support business decision-making. Conduct research and assist the Asset Manager in compiling market, financial and economic data to prepare business cases. Create financial worksheets to calculate return-on-capital and conduct internal-rate-of-return and payback analyses to differentiate internal projects. Conduct financial and statistical analyses on internal data and prepare executive summary reports on findings. Assist Asset Manager and Operation Controls Manger in preparation of and managing the operational budget and ensuring that established performance targets are achieved.
To be considered for the Business Analyst role, you must have a minimum of 5 years of proven industry experience. Combination of education and experience can be considered.

Have JD Edwards experience
Have a strong knowledge of capital expenditure process, economic and statistical analyses, accounting and finance.
Have strong research, technology, report writing, and data management skills.
Possess a well-developed business acumen and demonstrated experience in driving operational improvements.
Have Excellent analytical, problem identification and problem solving skills.
Maintain well-developed interpersonal skills, customer service orientation as well as excellent communication skills required to work with the customers on different levels.
Have highly effective time management, organizational and negotiation skills.
Be flexible, adaptable and have the ability to deliver results.
Completion of undergraduate degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or other related field. MBA degree is preferred.
Specialized training in project management, business practices, and operation management.
Salary is to be negotiated based on experience.
