Sales Associate (Current Employee) –  Calgary, AB14 May 2017
really great company, really great values, generally everyone that works there is nice. of course it is a retail job so there are customers that you have to deal with and other cons but that is any retail job. IKEA i would say is one of the better retail jobs to have. So if you have your heart set on retail or are just looking for a job to pay the bills IKEA is good place to apply at.
Pros
cheap lunch, good perks
Cons
customers

SALES SPECIALIST & HOME FURNISHING CONSULTING (Former Employee) –  Ottawa, ON11 May 2017
IKEA is one of the best organizations I have had the privilege of working for. Every decision they make is thoroughly thought out and executed with little difficulty. From upper management to part time sales, everyone receives exceptional benefits package. Every role at the store level is provided with a degree of autonomy that allows each individual to feel a sense of ownership and purpose in the workplace. They are a global leader in sustainable business which is one of many reasons to feel proud that you work for the brand.

CUSTOMER SERVICE- PART-TIME CASHIER (Former Employee) –  Burlington, ON27 April 2017
It wasn't overly all bad. I learned a lot of valuable skills. The best skill learned was learning to deal with multiple customers at once. I wish management was more cohesive.

Cashiers/Self Checkout Attendants (Former Employee) –  North York, ON22 April 2017
Looking out for any unusual action at the cash register and provide exceptional customer service. Learn how to deal with passionate customers. Management was great and fair. The hardest part of the job was asking the customer for checking their bags without offending them. Servicing customers and able to resolve their inquiries.

Manager (Former Employee) –  Winnipeg, MB1 March 2017
awesome culture and values which makes going to work feel like working with your friends as we are all, "on the same page". some bad apples in top management who can poison the workplace - make sure to interview with everyone you will be dealing with!
Pros
low cost lunches, coworker lounge areas, sustainability focus, community involvement, bonus program
Cons
ever changing priorities, large projects are not executed professionally

Best place to work for. They absolutely care about their staff members. Good place for advancement! Pay is below average, but the lunches and staff discount make up for that.

Customer Service/Cashier (Former Employee) –  North York, ON8 February 2017
I start my shift with a smile and ready to serve.I learned how to identify shop lifters. Management was very professional. The hardest part of the job was to confront a customer and at the same time making sure the customer does not get offended. the most enjoyable part of the job was when able to assist customers and get a compliment from customers for providing a superior service.

Cart Organizer at Ikea Vaughan (Former Employee) –  Vaughan, ON1 February 2017
The job as a cart organizer is a job to do if you need some quick money. You have the freedom to work more or less hours although they will cap you at a certain point due to not wanting to pay overtime wages. It is a job to keep in between jobs because the pay is low and their is not much ambition to organize carts in a cart room. Ikea does hire from within mainly so there are many opportunities to move into a position with higher pay and benefits.
Pros
discounts on entire store
Cons
physically demanding especially in the extreme heat and extreme cold.

Fast paced and involved work environment but slow to change
Bistro & Restaurant Team Leader (Former Employee) –  Etobicoke, ON31 January 2017
Work is very straight forward with not too much change day-per-day but allows enough leeway to perform work effectively. Very heavily customer dependent and, due to general nature of IKEA, will have a great amount of customer interaction especially for questions. Management is usually quick to respond and very helpful but due to exceedingly high volume of customers at any given time they can be stretched thin. Generally a great environment to work in with great co-workers but can be taxing due to strain of volume.
Pros
High coworker involvement and praise, high advancement opportunities, good benefits, daily updated staff menu with vegetarian options, staff discounts on most products
Cons
can be very taxing both physical and mental, high volume of customers
