Job Description: PROJECT LEADER
(6-month term/full time/possibility for extension)


The Project Leader will be responsible for the “Building Capacity in Urban Aboriginal Youth Project”. This position will be responsible for the delivery of all program activities and events as outlined in the project and will be based out of the Indian & Métis Friendship Centre of Winnipeg Inc.


  • Develop a calendar/timeline for proposed events and activities
  • Recruit/invite youth from within the community to get involved in the program
  • Create network with community; access resources, develop partnerships
  • Maintain reports, track participation, provide stats
  • Collaborate with youth in developing workshop series aimed at career development
  • Conduct research; develop program & activities; evaluate & adapt program
  • Promote and administer programs & activities
  • Monitor project expenses; track using Microsoft excel
  • Participate in other assigned duties as needed


  • Post Secondary Education /and or Training
  • Previous experience administering/facilitating projects
  • Previous experience working with youth
  • Previous experience supervising staff/participants
  • Ability to coordinate Career Building workshops for aboriginal youth
  • Knowledge and understanding of barriers facing aboriginal youth & the workforce
  • Strong organization skills
  • Ability to prepare written documents
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word programs- Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Willingness to work flexible hours
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Must have a recent Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check
  • Salary DOQ
  • Preference will be given to applicants of Aboriginal descent
