Fun Workplace
Receiving Associate (Former Employee) –  London, ON20 July 2017
It was a great starter job right out of high school. If you are looking for a career, to move up or advance I would say take another route. Great work experience in customer service and working in a team here.

doesn't care about employees
SALES ASSOCIATE (Current Employee) –  Burnaby, BC19 July 2017
-with hardly any training they throw you to the wolves.
-if you dont have a full availibility they will not give you good hours
- departments always understaffed even though most people are availible to work (not set up for success)
- at most you will get a 25 cent raise IF you "exceed expectations," which hardly ever happens because of above point.
- good for a first job, but no room for advancement.
Pros
its a job...
Cons
25 cent raise (MABYE), unflexible schedules, minimal training, always understaffed

Receiver (Former Employee) –  Scarborough, ON18 July 2017
i had two shift. the afternoon shift i loved working there. if it was in the morning shift, the same position it would be wonderful. the management team has good communication skills the position that you are in. nothing is hard but it is to understand the position you are in. in the company, the agency hires people to work everyday but in the company layoff workers for weeks at a time. the company and the agency have no communication between the two nof who is beng hired or layoff.
Pros
good to work at the comapany
Cons
to many people are getting layoffs and hired

great work environment, low pay scale
In-Store Marketing Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Brampton, ON17 July 2017
Working at HBC can be a blessing or it can be the pits. It all matters on your manager and division. Work culture is great and the office in Brampton is a nice little (BIG) area to work.

Working at HBC head office has no real perks other than a slight discount in store that grows with years of service. Pay seems to be on the low end of the scale unless you play your cards right.

Hardest part of the job is reliance on others when all you want to do is get information to complete your job. Most enjoyable part of the job is the friendship gained with fellow co workers and a really good benefits package if you choose and pay for it.
Pros
Great work environment, people you work with, having the right manager can be difference maker
Cons
low pay scale?, no set hours (i.e. work NEEDS to get done or else), low raise amounts

Paranoid company specially asset protection
Asset protection (Former Employee) –  Toronto, ON2 July 2017
All they do all day is look for ways to get rid of you, lots of favoritism for the Dinasours that have been there forever. Lack of training and unwilling to accept any small error while trying to protect their assets. the company is paranoid of law suits. Also shoplifters have more rights than you with lots of policy to protect them. Finally I would not recommend working here on an industry that is dying and in a company that threats all their employees like criminals.

poor management, not too tiring
Sales Associate (Former Employee) –  Richmond, BC1 July 2017
because the store is very large, the management team is very scattered and unorganized. People are sometimes forgotten and would not receive a shift in weeks. They are constantly understaffing the departments, and have poor expectations for customer service. However, it is easy to book days off
