Difficult to advance
Senior Business Analyst - Store Operations (Current Employee) –  Brampton, ON12 January 2017
Difficult to advance, little to no opportunity to move up and few mentors are in place.

I do love the fast paced environment and that no day is set or similar to the last, there is always something going on.
Pros
Free coffee
Cons

Very bad experience
In-Store Marketer (Former Employee) –  Toronto, ON8 January 2017
Everyday is a struggle physically and emotionally. Constant re-setup due to lack of communications. Tons of hard labour work. No bonus. No appreciation. Micro management from the direct manager. No development once and for all. .
Pros
Saks employee discount
Cons
25 cents raise per year, can't call in sick without manager giving you a lecture about not taking advantage of sick leaves, seniors bully juniors when choosing day-offs and manager takes senior's side

Satisfactory Retail
Retail Sales Associate (Former Employee) –  Vancouver, BC2 January 2017
Despite being a huge, reputable company, employee wages are minimum. You work quite hard compared to other retail jobs since it is a department store. The HR and managers were helpful at the location I worked at, but quite understaffed, yet lacked hours. Clean place to work and you get to wear nice, black clothing to your fashion taste. If too busy, may not get breaks until much later if understaffed.
Pros
management
Cons
culture, wage, lack of advancement

Management Sucks
Asset Protection Associate (Former Employee) –  Toronto, ON26 December 2016
Will never work with them again, they have a lot of favouritism and in considerate people who just want to get rid of you. If you work with this company please watch your back especially in the Asset Protection Department

Very Enjoyable with Supportive Management Team
Loss Prevention Investigator (Former Employee) –  Toronto, Ontario20 December 2016
Plain clothes loss prevention investigator. Apprehended shop lifters, completed security audits and conducted internal investigations. Top female investigator in the region for 2 consecutive years.

Management was very supportive in career advancement and lead by example. Co-workers were extremely supportive and co-operative. Developed many, long lasting friendships while working at Hudson's Bay. The most difficult aspect of the job was working late evenings and sometimes overnight due to camera installation for internal investigations. The most enjoyable part of the job was working in the heart of the city in the largest Canadian department store.
Pros
Positive Environment, Location and Co-workers
Cons
Commute, Salary

My experience at the Hudson's Bay Company was amazing, interacting with customers on a daily basis was enjoyable and interesting. My co workers were very friendly and caring. The hardest part of the job was dealing with angry customers because i didn't know how to react sometimes and the most enjoyable part of this job was meeting new people everyday and building good communications with them.
Pros
Fun interacting with happy customers
Cons
Long hours

Sales Assistant (Former Employee) –  Brampton, ON17 December 2016
I love working at hudsons bay, with all my co-workers. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. The hardest part of working their is when a lot of stock come, there barley any space to put the fragrances so we have to shift everything. I enjoy selling fragrances helping customers with their choice. All the managers are so nice and understanding.

It's not a very good place in terms of benefits and balancing family life. Usually staff is not paid well and is under microscope all the time. I would not suggest working here
