I worked at packing. Tagging and wrapping the shipments.
It was hard wrapping. We do it manually then. Learned how to us the scanner. Learned how to stack on a skid.

Overall Good Company
Financial Analyst (Current Employee) –  Brampton21 May 2017
Company and people are generally good. The pay is slightly below industry standard but they try and make it with work life balance. The benefits are really bad.

Worst workplace, GM and upper management are horrible to work for.
Department Manager (Current Employee) –  Ottawa, ON12 May 2017
This was one of the worst workplaces I have ever been subject to. The GM speaks poorly of her sales managers and purposely creates in store issues. GM is completely clueless, unable to lead and develop her team. The environment is very hostile. Work life balance, they give false promises for days off and should you work additional time you are always promised a day owed however if you ask for it it is never given to you and they deny that they owe you a day.
Cons
Zero training, longer hours than scheduled, terrible benefits

Commission Sales Associate (Current Employee) –  Oshawa, ON12 May 2017
overall nice place to work. IT would benefit from more staffing as the floor tends to be understaffed and overworked. I feel as if the company expects you to do the work of three employees for the wages of one. Also its incredibly hard to take any time off work at all with out meeting resistance from managment.

fun place to work
Retail Customer Service / Sales (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB9 May 2017
This place was a fun place to work at. First time I've worked with people all ages plus on top of that I worked at sections of the store that I loved working at. Hardest part of the job would probably be trying to get customers to sign up for hbc credit cards
Pros
working somewhere I truly enjoyed
Cons
hbc credit cards

Shipping & Receiving/ Sales Associate/ Cashier (Former Employee) –  Peterborough, ON9 May 2017
Management at Head Office level provided minimum help required to perform the job adequately. Culture of the specific store location very good, everyone was always available to help each other. Small location meant competing for hours. I really loved the atmosphere of the actual job and the people I worked with were amazing. To be able to help individuals redecorate and equip potentially their entire household space is really rewarding.

Not so fun
Back of the house Associate (Former Employee) –  Kamloops, BC7 May 2017
The store is too expensive and very less customers come by. The whole inventory is just pilled up and is just dumped on the floor. The management don't boost you up much because they are too old. They wants to make you do a lot of work in just minimum wage.

Poor work conditions
Sales Associate (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB6 May 2017
Poor work conditions in commission departments. The hardest part is to sell during the hard time as you do not get paid hourly but only if you sell. If you do not sell you do not get paid at all and the amount that you should have sold will be deducted from the days that you sold. Management is difficult to talk to and they ask you to do a mandatory non-paid hour of work when customers are not there.

Positive space, however mostly elderly people work there so if you are younger it can get boring. Friendly follow associates though with a good sense of team building.

Sales Associate (Former Employee) –  Halton Hills, ON3 May 2017
It was a great environment to work in. Great co-workers and support. A typical day at work included being positioned in a section and helping to keep that section clean and tidy while assisting customers as they needed it.

Efficient work environment.
Sales Associate (Former Employee) –  Toronto, ON3 May 2017
Fast phased environment. The store required lots of changed to attract more customers which led to a lot of different changes and constant improving of the store itself. Positive environment between the associate as well as supervisors. Lots of job variety depending on the department need at the day of work.
