An opportunity exists to join the team of a non-profit organization as a 1-1 support worker after school with a non-verbal youth with Autism who loves the outdoors, hiking, swimming, biking and various community based activities.
The ideal candidate must also enjoy these activities and have experience working with Autism. You must also have the skills necessary to deal with possible challenging behaviours, Non verbal Communication and be able to provide structure and consistency following the support plan outlined in a warm, and supportive manner.

Support/training with a Behaviour Consultant on techniques of ongoing goals such as life skills, communication and behaviour strategies in the community as well as at home will be provided.

Shifts: 3 hrs 2 days per week

- Autism Experience
- Enjoys Physical Activity and the Outdoors also!
- Experience with Non Verbal Communication
- Experience working in a Team Environment with little supervision
- Experience with providing Structure to an individual in care
- Crisis Management / Challenging Behaviors
- Personal Care
- Driver's License
- Reliable Vehicle

Applicants pursuing an education in psychology, early childhood education, school education teacher assistant, speech pathology, music therapy, occupational therapy and recreational therapy are encouraged to apply.

Compensation: $18.27 per hour

Must be able to obtain:

-Criminal records check
-TB test
-First Aid and CPR
-2 written references
