Howe Sound Pulp and Paper has an immediate opening for a MBOS (Management By Olympic Systems) Coordinator at our Port Mellon site. Howe Sound Pulp and Paper Corporation is one of the most progressive Kraft, Pulp and Paper manufacturers in the world, leading industry in product quality, efficiency and environmental protection. On the heels of a $6 million dollar upgrade of our evaporators we have now completed a $36 million fluidized bed upgrade to our power boiler to enhance energy and generate clean power. We are now one of the largest independent producers of renewable electricity in BC.

Reporting to the MBOS Manager, the MBOS Coordinator will assist in the implementation of our operational excellence program referred to as Management by Olympic System. MBOS is designed to promote a culture of continuous improvement and achieve business results through leadership, project based initiatives, measureable key performance indicators and high employee involvement.
The MBOS coordinator will provides support, guidance and coaching to department managers, front-line personnel and our hourly workforce to implement improvement activities with results. He or she will also work with the departments to establish key performance indicators and develop solutions and measurements to monitor team progress. The MBOS coordinator is actively involved in providing opportunities for employees to bring forth their ideas and ensuring their ideas receive consideration and response.

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource, Process Engineering, and/or progressive experience in Operational Excellence, Organizational Development or Performance Management implementations
  • Project Management experience
  • Strong leadership and facilitations skills
  • Good communication and strong influencing skills
  • At least 5 years of demonstrated leadership in a staff or line position
  • Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma is an asset.
