Position Summary

As a key member of the Personnel team, the Recruiter is responsible for delivering full cycle recruiting for Horizon Drilling. He/she will employ various sourcing strategies and develop new, creative recruiting methods. The Recruiter plays a critical role in ensuring Horizon is hiring the best possible talent by developing and executing recruiting plans, networking through industry contacts, association memberships, trade groups and employees. He/she will also provide administrative duties and recordkeeping through the Applicant Tracking Software (ATS). Specifically, the recruiter is proactive about business needs, taking business trends into account when seeking out, pre-screening, interviewing, and testing applicants to locate qualified employees for job openings. He/she is required to maintain an extensive, up to date database of candidates available as needs arise.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure Horizon rigs are fully crewed with qualified employees
  • Implement and coordinate scheduling of all required pre-employment testing for potential new hires
  • Proactively source potential applicants from a variety of sources
  • Maintain current knowledge of employment standards guidelines and laws
  • Prepare and maintain applicant records in ATS
  • Review and evaluate applicant qualifications according to established guidelines
  • Collect all required certifications and licences prior to orientation
  • Develop and execute recruiting plans
  • Network through industry contacts, association memberships, trade groups and employees
  • Encourage employee referrals by communicating their importance
  • Efficiently and effectively fill open positions
  • Conduct regular follow-up with Rig Managers to determine the effectiveness of recruiting
  • Develop a pool of qualified candidates in advance of need
  • Research and recommend new sources for active and passive candidate recruiting
  • Build networks to find qualified candidates
  • Utilize the Internet for recruitment, post positions to appropriate Internet sources
  • Use social and professional networking sites to identify and source candidates
  • Communicate with managers and employees regularly to establish rapport, gauge morale, and source new candidate leads
  • Maintain regular contact with possible future candidates
  • Attend career fairs for recruiting and company recognition
  • Accept, review, pre-screen all qualified candidates subject to the Job Description and minimum hiring criteria
  • Conduct pre-screening interviews
  • Advise managers and employees on staffing policies and procedures
  • Provide selected candidates with conditional offer of employment (verbal and written), confirm employment and schedule orientation
  • Double-check completed documents to ensure all required information is complete
  • Coordinate all internal recruitment processes including job posting, transfers or promotion of selected employees ensuring all applicable standards in hiring are met
  • Compose and send out rejection letters to unsuccessful candidates
  • Perform other special projects as assigned

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Minimum 3 years of field recruitment experience
  • Innovative thinker, able to use and develop new sources for recruitment
  • Able to work in a result focused environment
  • Able to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively with different managers, candidate personalities, etc.
  • Previous Applicant Tracking Software (ATS) experience an asset
  • Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with corporate departments, key business partners, and employees
  • Solid MS Office skills
  • Solid interviewing skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet departmental targets

Special Conditions of Employment
