The people make it better
Dept. Supervisor (Former Employee), Hyattsville, MDSeptember 16, 2014
Pros: success sharing, cookouts
Cons: schedules
Home Depot was a great experience for me. It comes with its highs and lows like any work place. I learned allot about leadership. The do's and don'ts. I gained knowledge on how to run a company. The employees are really what make Home Depot. The biggest opportunity would be more consideration of employees personal life. The most enjoyable would be building – more... relationships with other associates and being able to help out customers. – less

– less

LUMBER AND BUILDING MATERIALS ASSOCIATE (Current Employee), Bristol, CTSeptember 16, 2014
Pros: for most holidays the employee committee puts on cookouts, the success sharing checks
Cons: can be stressful especially during the summer, short notices on district walks of the store
I have always enjoyed working at Home Depot. As a sales associate there is no typical day. The customers that come into the store have positive attitudes for the most part. The management team here is one of the best I have seen. They are always willing to support the associates and give guidance to keep the business running smoothly.

Customer Service (Former Employee), edmontonSeptember 16, 2014
learned a lot of new things I like learning as I go keeps me challenged , learned all kinds of things its on the resame and working with people is easy, hardest part of a job is when your working with customers and they are yelling at you or your co-worker but you learn fast that its nothing in the end most enjoyable would be making people laugh and – more... customers because at some point when you get to people its like a family – less

Nursery Consultant (Former Employee), Columbus, GASeptember 16, 2014
Typical day is fast-paced with phones ringing, pages for assistance, and this time of year looking for other associates to help. The most enjoyable part of my job is knowing how to help with just about any problem that my customers may have, from plant selection to chemicals to grilling and lawn care. The hardest part of the job is working with people – more... who don't share my desire to exceed expectations of every person I meet. – less

Head Cashier, Garden Associate, Hardware Associate (Current Employee), Lindon, UTSeptember 15, 2014
Pros: celebrations, games, prizes, bonuses, free meals
Cons: my positions rarely gets breaks, benefits can be pricey
Typical day includes managing cashiers and lot attendants while keeping customer checkout lines minimal and going above and beyond typical customer service.
I've learned to manage and prioritize my time along with the cashier's and lot attendants time and objectives.
Management is extremely helpful in diffusing any kind of situation and recognizing – more... accomplishments.
My co-workers are easy to get along with.
The hardest part of this job is to satisfy upset customers and keeping situations from escalating to higher positions.
The most enjoyable part of my job is having the ability to make the customer's experience better than they expected. – less
