Would like to apply my skills in a part time position.
Overnight Frieght Team Associate (Current Employee), Coquitlam, BCJuly 21, 2014
Pros: part time hours.
Cons: there aren't any in my view.
I feel working for the Home Depot would be a very valuable experience for me personally. The Home Depot is a large successful company that will be around for a long time. The Home Depot has a lot to offer. Stability and the opportunity to learn and advance. It would appear that hard work and dedication would be and is recognized by the number of stores – more... and the great service I have received as a customer. For these reasons I feel strongly about joining the company and contributing to the future success of the Home Depot. – less

A lot to learn
Doors and Windows Specialist (Current Employee), Lodi, CAJuly 21, 2014
Pros: learn a lot of useful information, good health benefits, room for growth
Cons: hard work doesn't always pay off, lot's of stress
You learn a lot about home improvement in a short amount of time which is a lot more useful than what you'd learn at other retail stores. Mainly deal with customers all day and when there is down time you clean the department. The schedule can be a bit rough for some people. Often closing the store at 10pm then working the next day at 6am. It can be – more... exhausting. I feel I can handle pretty much any schedule for any employer with ease now. – less

productive and educational place to work
Greeter/Paint associate (Former Employee), El Dorado, ARJuly 21, 2014
greeting customers and meeting their needs while working in the paint department. I was constantly learning new things about the various products we supplied and techniques on how to sell the products we provided. Several of the co-workers I had were very helpful when I needed assistance with a project. The hardest part of the job was dealing the usual – more... drama that went on between some co-workers and staying out of it. The most enjoyable part of the job was mixing paint and assisting customers with their home projects. I also had a wonderful management crew. They were always willing to lend their expertise on what ever issue I had. – less

Plumbing Master Trade Specialist (Current Employee), Cincinnati, OHJuly 21, 2014
My typical day can vary depending on the day. Early in the mornings, I am often in contact with contractors and assist them in finding the materials they need for whatever job they are working on at the time. I also work with private individuals who are doing home projects themselves.

home depot days
Cashier (Former Employee), Spanaway, WAJuly 21, 2014
Pros: occasional bbq!
Cons: some items were stolen by customers or every once and awhile from the break room for a co-worker.
A typical day for a cashier at Home Depot from what i remember was the tills were shared so if you open you count in the money and greet and help the customers making sure the customer left with everything needed, and they get good service. same as mid day and close we have to greet every customer walking by but with close you have to make sure the – more... tills are accurate then clean up for the next day. I learned how to count in money to open and close out the tills as well as take customer returns. my co-workers were really helpful if i had a question.
The hardest part about it was being on your feet all day if you have bad knees or back.
Most enjoyable was learning a bit of sign language from one of my co-workers who is completely deaf. – less

There is not a typical day working at The Home Depot Corporate Office for Home Decorators Collection. The only consistencies are the daily challenges, fast pace and no shortage of projects.
