Equipment Operator (Former Employee) – Alberta – 19 December 2012
Make sure you have contract with this company or they will rip you off on the first paycheck. Management misleads its employes. Very seasonal. Never know when you go back to work. Very unfriendly and unproffesional workplace. Equipment in very poor conditions and quality. Safety is only talked about but barely practiced.
Assist in hoisting driven piles, building (Former Employee) – Coldbrook, NS – 6 January 2017
Perfect place to work for an aspiring mechanic, most knowledgeable auto mechanics I have worked with as well as the largest variety of vehicles and mechanical repairs you will find at any one small shop.
There was a very close team atmosphere in the field almost a brotherhood. Liked the people I worked with and also loved the job.
Laborer/Team Leader (Former Employee) – Leader, SK – 21 December 2016
I learned how to manage a crew and well. Also learned how to confront problems find a simple and efficient way around the issues. Dealing with clients and office management was a excellent learning curve as well, getting the experience of the insurance and outs of the paper work what happens behind doors.
Responsibilities and ability to make the right call
Look for work elsewhere. You will be better off in the long run!
Driver/Operator (Former Employee) – Lamont, AB – 29 November 2016
Great peaple at the bottom of the ladder but be very aware of the people at the top , very deceiving! Had the pleasure of meeting some life long friends there , but also saw a lot of qualified good people let go because they stood up to management, leaving unqualified substance abusers to do the dirty work! And beware there still there! Stay away from employment here , unless your planning to work in Kingston or Houston, where there are no senior managers!( hence the only good reviews on here!) The product sells it self! The old owner of Peaceland Piles is probably turning over in his grave, he would have never sold out if he knew what would was happening to the company he put many years of sweat into!
There pay was way to high to start out with!
Poor management, no recognition of a job well done
management of any kind very hard to get along with.especially when they know you are heavily ticketed i.e. heo journeyman ticket, you get the picture
not tellin (Former Employee) – lamont – 5 February 2016
too bad for hps I had seen a lot of ticketed people including myself leave this outfit as management is fearful and threatened by people of this stature that know more than they do.as for the comments about the people leaving the negative comments,it sucks to be u because we the ticketed people can and will get better paying careers as we are a lot smarter.and u go nowhere.no smart person would work for this outfit,as this is a nowhere company that has no clue how to look after the people that take care of it.
head office (Former Employee) – Sh. Park – 18 July 2015
After working for a while in this company, irealized that this company has no future. People are teaming and fighting for power. Not a healthy environment for you to work and advance. They care about $10 difference in accommodation. Really dont recommend it at all.
Senior Management, Sales, Field and Facilities, Eng, Survey, Safety, QA/QC, DC etc...are SPOT ON
Keeping this private (Former Employee) – Sherwood Park, AB – 16 March 2015
Senior Management and all of my co-workers were team oriented and always did their best to think outside the box.
The Management 4-star rating above reflects lower level Supervisors. Although a very professional team, the Five Star rating is reserved for Senior Management.
The Salary and Benefits are on par or better than standard.
Due to the nature of the work and industry needs, work/life balance can get a little off kilter. If you want a more controlled work/life balance go work 9-5 ...
I loved almost every moment, hitting the ground running; learning something new all the time. A wonderful experience and I'm forever grateful.
I've read some other reviews for HPS on here and I think those negative comments are a reflection persons writing them. If you can't get along with this team, you best be working for yourself, or stay unemployed.
Benefits and Pay. Random Friday lunches. RRSP. Fun group. Family like. Events. People.
Driver (Former Employee) – Lamont – 16 January 2015
I was excited about going to work with this company,,,,,,,,,,,,,,soon found out that management will treat you like ...........well, not very good. They will cover their rear when they make a mistake and as we all know,,,,,,the brown stuff runs down hill. Too bad really.
field worker (Current Employee) – edmonton – 15 November 2013
As i work there i would suggest staying away for this position. They don't want anyone to take charge at all they don't want change and the system that they have from what i hear is so disorganized and unfinished its better to call it a disaster. The management are not friendly and will turn on you the second they get the chance. If you get into the HSE part be aware the overall manger does not make time for you and has no clue to what she is doing. She has no idea what needs to be done and things are not done and kept up to date. They do not pay well at all and for what stress you have to deal with you should be paid more. There reports are never done and things are unreported all the time or the lack of communication in the company Safety does not here about it for a few days and when you question it management would like you to not get involved. They are way behind on times and the policies are so far out of date it should be criminal on how they get away with things. If they want to fix things they need to start at the top with the safety manger who looks after all areas the US and canada she and a few of field staff are what hurts the company the most no clue on procedures and how safety should work. They have had a person in this position before and because she knew what she was doing and new how to make the system work the safety manager let her go. We as field people enjoyed working with her and the field safety like the fact that she knew what she was doing and was there to help us where we needed it. Due to her knowing the issues and trying to fix them they let hermore... go because she was a threat to one of the managers. We all miss her and feel they made a large mistake but then its made evident our safety is not important production is. So in conclusion if you know what your doing in this field you will be pushed out the door before you get to your desk. PRODUCTION comes First NOT safety and that should be our company logoless
your paid every two weeks
Management of the company is not supportive to field managers, employees safety is not a first in their books and it never will be
I love to work with the public and also help my fellow employee's advance or help them. I like to learn new things when I can.
Office Administrator (Former Employee) – Lamont, alberta – 16 May 2012
I was the Sernior Office Lady. Worked ib Accpac most of the day. Was in charge of PO's, Benefits, Time Sheets, Payroll, Time Off requests, Inventory. Pretty much the go to person for 99 % of things done in an office on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.
