Purpose of the Position
To administer and maintain end to end functions of the Agency’s infrastructure which includes:
Windows Server 2003 - 2010
Active Directory, File and Print Services
Exchange Server 2003 and 2010
SQL Server
Firewall and VPN
Blackberry Enterprise Server
Anti-Spam Appliance
Network backup
VMware
DNS
PC workstations
Printers
Duties/Responsibilities
1. Provide end to end technical support to staff 2. Set up IT assets such as notebook computers, desktops and smart phones 3. Troubleshoot and correct hardware and software problems 4. Perform printer maintenance and troubleshooting 5. Participate in meetings with management, other staff, vendors and other parties related to the Agency 6. Use disk imaging software to generate and apply standard PC configurations 7. Provide new staff with an orientation to their PC and the Agency network services available to them 8. Provision and decommission Blackberry smart phones 9. Track assets within the organization 10. Ensure that patches and other software / firmware updates are applied in a timely manner 11. Ensure that backups are running on schedule, and periodically test that these backups can be restored 12. Design, plan, install, configure and document networks and services 13. Contribute to and maintain IT standards of the Agency 14. Essential and marginal functions may require moderate to light lifting and movement of heavy IT equipment 15. Help establish service level standards for the unit and ensure they meet Agency’s needs
Knowledge/Skills
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
Have received certification from Microsoft (MCP)
Possess a diploma in a related field
Have at least 5 years of operational experience as a system administrator in similar environments
Be available to respond to emergencies after regular work
