About Hatch Mott MacDonald

Hatch Mott MacDonald builds North America's underlying framework. The engineering firm, which is a subsidiary of Mott MacDonald, offers planning, project development, analysis, design, construction management, facility maintenance, and asset management for all types of infrastructure projects in North America. It specializes in tunnels, wastewater systems, – more... pipelines, rail and transit systems, buildings, and utilities. Customers are both private companies and municipalities. The company was formed in 1996 after Hatch Associates of Canada merged with Mott MacDonald. The company has more than doubled in size since the merger and now includes some 70 offices in the US and Canada.

Hatch Mott MacDonald has expanded by acquiring smaller engineering firms with a variety of practices. Its 2008 purchases include an Alabama highway and bridge builder and a New Jersey engineering firm. The company slowed down its acquisitions for a couple of years as the construction industry recovered from the recession, but has resumed its buying activities. In early 2011 it acquired Colorado-based water and wastewater specialist consulting firm Richard Arber and North Carolina-based transportation firm Gibson Engineers. The following year the company acquired Canadian consulting specialist Engineering Northwest. – less
