Front Desk Agent (Current Employee), Lafayette, LAFebruary 28, 2014
It is a good company but lacks a lot of good management team. Pay increases needs to me definitely giving between 90 days to a year for work ethics and working skills. But I do enjoy my job it is very up front and personal other people. My co workers are amazing and we as a team do know how to get together and make things happen whenever we are short – more... handed. I come on my off days to make sure everything is okay and if they need my help I am not afraid of helping. I do housekeeping, breakfast, store supervisor, make group. reservations and host receptions for our guest – less

My day
Housekeeping (Former Employee), Stevensville, MIFebruary 26, 2014
Come to work meet in the break room to meet our supervisor and get our boards to see what rooms we are assigned for the day. Then we clean our assigned rooms and help guest as needed afterwards take out our trash and leave. My co- workers are good people they're good team players. The hardest part of my is having to wait for guest to leave in order – more... to clean their rooms but the most enjoyable part is seeing the smiles on the guest face when they have enjoyed their stay. Management was very good when I was there. – less

Make you feel like family
Housekeeper/Breakfest (Former Employee), Lawrence, KSFebruary 24, 2014
Hampton was all about helping each other. We where all there for the same thing. But in the end it became more of a warm bond then any thing. We all helped each other. the hardest thing was the fast physical demand of housekeeping and breakfast. If some one seen you working hard they where there to help you. Our management cared about the employees, – more... when the day was long they would buy us lunch and help take our minds off the long day. – less

Housekeeper/Breakfast (Former Employee), Woodbridge, VAFebruary 22, 2014
Pros: great co workers
Cons: some workdays were short
I loved waking up in the morning to know I was going to have a great day. Working at Hampton Inn showed me that I could excel at anything if I put my heart in it. I got moved to three different departments, and conquered everyone. In each department I met a new friend everytime. It was a warm and friendly environment that anybody would love. I had the – more... best co workers, they showed me hospitality on my first day like I was always there. It really wasn't nothing hard about the jobs at all to me. The way I look at it is...you get what you put out. Meaning if you put your heart and soul into something then you will love it and it will work for you. But on the other hand, if you put little or no effort into something then don't expect much. I enjoyed walking into Hampton Inn because I knew I was coming to work with loving people daily. – less

easy job with a pool and fitness center
Housekeeping/ Laundry (Former Employee), Dickinson, NDFebruary 15, 2014
Pros: free lunches and i had a great supervisor
Cons: short breaks, not enough hours, and lots of drama between co-workers
There were NO benefits offered, my manger was great, the culture wasn't the greatest to work in due to all the drama between all the co-workers. The hardest part of the day was listening to all the co-workers talk bad behind others backs, but then seeing them a few minutes later talking to the person that they were bad mouthing like they didn't even – more... say a thing about them. Which always made me wonder if i was being bad mouthed behind my back. The easiest part of the work day was getting in and getting my job done so i was able to go home. i learned that you should not talk bad to or about co-workers because its not good for your work environment and it looks bad on you. I really enjoyed the work that this job has to offer despite everything else that went on there. – less

Pros: free lunch, cool coworkers
Cons: no heath care. hotel guests are dicks
If you don't mind cleaning and doing basic math its a good job for you. Hotel guests can be mean and stuff but over all its a good job for a college student.

Ideal job while looking for a career
Front Desk Agent (Former Employee), Lone Tree, COFebruary 12, 2014
Pros: fun job with nice compensation
Cons: unpredictable hours
A shift would consist of checking in guests and assisting them with their needs to ensure the best possible experience at the hotel. I learned the basics of the hospitality industry and what needs to be done to make sure the hotel is as efficient as possible. Of all the managers, only one of the managers seemed to understand that the hourly position – more... could not be as demanding as a career. The other managers were fairly pushy and narrow-minded. There were five front desk agents including myself and only one of them was competent and professional. The others didn't take the position seriously or had difficulty solving problems themselves. The most difficult part of the job was when guests requested something be fixed or taken care of in the morning and other coworkers not reading the pass-on-log to facilitate the guests needs. The best part of the job was that it was not physically or mentally tolling, it was simple work for above average pay. – less

Laundry Attendant (Former Employee), Lawton, OKFebruary 11, 2014
A typical day consisted of the stripping of dirty linens from guest rooms, sorting of the dirty linens, washing them, and folding and re-stocking them and placing them in their designated areas. There were staff meetings every morning be for work was scheduled to be begin. My co-workers were polite and easy-going. The hardest part of the job was after – more... my lunch break, after working all day the sluggish feeling I got. The most enjoyable part of the job was the interaction between my co-workers and I. – less

I sincerely loved working here. The management was organized and strong. Appreciated their staff and recognized accomplishments. Room for advancement was available. The only reason I left was because I could not work the swing-shift hours. I took a toll on my home-life and health.
