Hamilton Metals Canada is looking for a Quality Control Inspector

Position Summary

Performs technical review of Sales Orders against initial and (when required) revised Customer Orders to ensure that all contractual requirements have been met and that our Company has the capability of processing the Order.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Reviews all incoming orders for the Mechanical and OCTG (Oil country tubular goods) Sales Groups.
Ensures that the material meets the Customer Specifications / PO requirements.
Review shop router to ensure compliance with Customer requirements.
Review Vendor Certificates of Compliance to ensure compliance with HMI requirements.
Compiles a Mill Test Report package for the Customer for shipment with the material.
E-mail or upload the Mill Test Report Package when requested by the Customer.
Review new / revised Customer specifications to ensure that HMI can meet the requirements of the specification.
Review Mill Test Reports for incoming material to ensure compliance with HMI ordering specs and, when required, Customer specs.

Other Responsibilities

Performs inspection of material prior to sending out for processing and after it returns from processing.
Prepares and performs final inspection of material for shipment to the Customer.
Schedules maintenance of material in HMI’s stock (power wash, varnish, etc.)
Maintains HMI Gages.
Provides various support for the QC and QA Departments.
Other duties as assigned.

Educational Background & Training

High School diploma or equivalent experience.
Understanding of basic technical and quality concepts.
Computer literate and proficient.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks.

Competencies Required For Position

Must maintain a strong sense of urgency, self-driven, detail oriented individual.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills essential.
Computer aptitude.

Job Contribution To Quality Objectives

Accurate review of Customer specifications against intended requirements ensures that products meet all Customer order provisions.
Accurate data entry of all information destined for HMI Certificates of Compliance ensures that the Customer obtains the correct snapshot of all material processing.
Working Environment / Physical Requirements
Standing, sitting, and possibly heavy lifting up to 50 pounds may be required.
Temperature conditions will vary with the outside environment.
Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include, but not limited to, work boots, hard hats, and safety glasses.
All employees must pass a drug test.

***This is a salaried full time permanent position based in Edmonton, AB.
CAD$ 42 500 p/a
