This position is located in Hall Beach, Nunavut.
This position is a temporary/casual position to perform carpentry work and carpentry preventative maintenance. The ideal candidate would complete carpentry work in accordance with work orders, plans and specifications to ensure Public Housing Units and works are well maintained. The cadidate would be responsible for completing repairs and replacements on exterior and interior fixtures as well as working with lock systems. The candidate may also be required to to aid other trades in the completion of their tasks.

The level of knowledge, experience and abilities required for this position include but are not limited to the following:
Knowledge of Northern building practices;

Ability to supervise and train apprentices and casual staff;

Ability to use and work with the metric system;

Ability to keep accurate records;

Follow plans and specifications;

Proficient in computer usage as it pertains to work orders.

Experience working in the North would be considered an asset.
The ability to speak Inuktitut would be considered a definite asset.

Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by: Certification of a Journeyman Carpenter ( 5 years ) , 3 years of experience in repairing and renovating buildings , proficient in finished carpentry.

Mandatory requirements for this position

A Journeyman Certificate in Carpentry;

A valid Class 5 driver's license.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Salary for this position is commensurate with education and experience.

The candidiate must provide a satisfactory criminal records check if they are contacted for an interview. Failure to provide a satifactory criminal check may deem the candidate disqualified from the position.

Interviews will be conducted commencing Tuesday July 2nd, 2013.
