I had a wonderful team to work with over the years. Everyone was always willing to stop what they wedre doing for a few minutes to discuss an issue or problem. Most of the other IT teams were also cooperative if you had a question or issue.

I enjoy the customer service
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB6 September 2017
I have worked for HSBC for over 22 years, 15 years at Main branch and 7 years at Harvest Hills branch. Customer service is what I do best. None of the work is repetitive, you always had something new everyday.
Pros
I enjoyed serving and knowing the clients very well.

Change in management required
Personal Banker (Former Employee) –  Toronto, ON30 August 2017
Unfortunately the management at HSBC is not great - employees are not treated fairly upon arrival. Unless you know someone already working there or have a good rapport with the managers beforehand it is an extremely difficult place to work.

I worked on the retail side of things and the company lags far behind its competitor. Things are much better in commercial banking, retail is mostly done because of regulatory constraints on the bank

Senior Technical Specialist (Former Employee) –  Vancouver, BC20 August 2017
I always enjoyed the atmosphere while I was at HSBC. I worked with a wonderful team that was always willing to stop what they were doing to discuss an issue or problem.

The company has had a Work/Life Balance policy in place for several years now. There is occasional overtime, but they try to ensure you don't spend too much of your life at work.

Branch Manager (Former Employee) –  Barrie, ON1 August 2017
As a large international bank there is benefit with the international connections. Challenge is delivering on global reach with local knowledge. What works in the UK may not work in Canada.
