RUBY ON RAILS DEVELOPER

Job Description:
We are looking for senior level software developer with Ruby on Rails experience. You should be able to contribute to the design and development of new features, to help optimize and scale our application, and work within an agile development environment. You should have experience delivering Rails based web applications to a production environment and be well versed on the entire software development lifecycle from inception to support.

Requirements:

• 3 - 4 years experience with Ruby on Rails, Merb, or other Ruby based web frameworks
• Experience in Java application development
• Exposure to Lucene, Solr
• RDBMS experience/knowledge (with Sybase an asset)
• Familiar with at least one IDE (Café, Jbuilder, VisualAge, etc.)
• Demonstrated experience in Unix or Linux
• Experience with Struts application framework and JavaScript
• Knowledgeable in JMS and messaging
• Have embraced test driven development and are experienced in rSpec, Test::Unit, Cucumber
• Knowledge of Web 2.0 technologies AJAX, CSS, HTML 5.0, Javascript, Prototype, Scriptaculous, jQuery.
• Ability to hand-code, analyze, debug, and deliver clean, maintainable code for all major browsers
• Ability to contribute to architectural and software design decisions using standard tools and practices, i.e. OO patterns, UML
• Ability to work in a tightly integrated team environment with an agile development processes
• Work experience in server side Java JSP and Servlets, etc. is an asset
• Exposure to Perl, DBI, Apache and knowledge of Tomcat would be an asset
