DATA MODELLER

The incumbent will be responsible for development and support of the strategic database and associated ETL processes and solutions. As such, you will work closely with our internal clients to understand their business and decision support needs. The candidate will be an active team member who analyzes business requirements, decide on the appropriate platform to meet the need, then plans, designs, tests, documents and implements the solution. The selected individual will have an opportunity to learn the Bank’s industry leading management paradigm and to play an important role within Treasury Analytics Group and TBSM. The position requires regular interaction with mid-senior management in TBSM, Finance and Risk Management.

The successful candidate will:

  • Develop and/or review estimates and assumptions for the project’s schedule, and effort using established estimating models, best practices, and past experience. The resulting estimates account for all activities in the project scope, including project management and application development tasks, software quality assurance reviews, and vendor and contract management activities
  • Ensure 100% compliance to project management methodology by consistently applying recognized project management processes, discipline and controls
  • Work with LOB partners within and outside of TBSM to develop the content of deliverables
  • Develop an understanding of the business and technical aspects of the project in order to effectively manage the projects and resources
  • Support project documentation as required by SDLC and TBSM Policies
  • Ensure that all requirements, project plans, and changes to commitment are communicated to all affected team members
  • Set targets and objectives for the direct reports and deliver results
  • Provide coaching and overall team leadership for team members and provide regular input into team members’ assessment of performance
  • Prioritize and manage own workload in order to deliver quality results and meet timelines
  • Support a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation and teamwork and ensure timely communication of issues/ points of interest

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
The position requires a highly analytical, detail-oriented individual, with a rare combination of strong financial and data modeling skills, as well as efficient relationship management. These are required:

  • Experience in logical and physical data modeling
  • Experience developing ETL processes and solutions (preferably with SSIS)
  • Strong background using SQL Server
  • Working knowledge of financial markets and Finance business processes and procedures
  • Strong knowledge of the financial system concepts, architecture and design
  • Good understanding of financial controls, policies and procedures would be considered an asset
  • Familiarity with the Bank’s compliance framework and policies
  • Advanced knowledge of Bank and technology standards (e.g., infrastructure, architecture, processes, applications) and managing people/projects
  • Advanced understanding of businesses and/or organizational practices/ disciplines
  • Basic knowledge of external competition, industry and/or market trends in relation to own business
